Phone wont read sim card , damaged , how can I retrieve files , as always comes on , no sim card emergency calls only

Power the phone down, remove the SIM card, and clean the gold contacts on the card with a soft cloth. Power the phone up with no card. Then power down, reinsert the card carefully, making sure it is located correctly.

If that doesn't work, connect the phone to a computer and see if it reads the SIM as a Removable Volume.

Depending on the size of the SIM, you may be able to use a SIM Card reader attached to a computer.

If that doesn't work, it is lost.

Try doing a hardreset on your phone

try holding down the power
remove the back cover and battery
(at this point briefly let up on the power)
remove the sim card
wait for "insert sim card" message
remove battery
reinsert sim card and battery
release power key when the splash screen comes up
