Question about Printers & Copiers

2 Answers

I have a Canon printer/scanner MP210. I ran out of black ink, though at the time, the color ink was working perfectly. I replaced the black ink cartridge and the printer now prints in black perfectly. But the color won't print at all. It isn't faded or sloppy or uneven. It spits out a clean, blank sheet of paper, when the previous day, before I replace the black cartridge, it had been perfect. I have tried cleaning it but that did nothing. It tells me that I am out of ink, which I find hard to believe. When I went to Office Max to get a new cartridge and told the man there my problem, he agreed that it could not be running out of ink to stop printing so abruptly. I have a store extended warrentee but would like to avoid taking it there if possible.

Try first to do a cleaning on the colored cartrdige that you have use an ethyl alcohol in cleaning, but if possible for you to try a different colored cartridge that will also be better so we can check if this is a problem with teh colored cartridges that you have...

Hope that helps.......

First try a hard reset - Unplug printer from power supply, wait 2 minutes and replug and see. If that doesnt work, try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer driver and software. Also ensure that the cartridge is properly seated in the holder.

Hi, My Canon MP210 printer is displaying E3 code. The colour light and alarm lights are illuminated constantly and black one is flashing. When opening the "lid", the cartridges do not align to...

I have workaround for the empty tank issue:
- buy or borrow another not empty tank
- place it in
- start the printer
- it recognises the "new" tank
- turn off the printer
- put back the old, empty, but refilled tank
- turn on the printer
- print something
- it will pop up a dialogue window saying
"The ink level of the black/color tank cannot be
determined. The ink level determining function will be
disabled for the black/color tank.
If you want to continue printing without this function
press the Start button on the printer."
- Press the Start button on the printer and ignore the
button 'Cancel Printing' appearing on the dialogue window.
- The dialog window disappears.

You can print your refilled tank as many times you want from this time.

When you go to 'Printers /Canon /Properties /Maintenance / Printer Status / Ink Information' it says that the ink level measuring function has been disabled for: black [40] / color[41]. You can ignore this this message, the printer will work perfectly without this stupid function.

Black color will not print. Installed a new black

Ink is a lubricant for the print heads. Some color ink is used even if you only print in black or vice-versa. If you printed with a color missing, you could destroy that print head from the friction of running without ink to lubricate it. That's why most printers won't allow you to print with a color missing even if you aren't using it.

If you allow a color to go empty, the residual ink in the head could clog and become permanently blocked. You would never be able to print that color again. So always replace ink cartridges as soon as they are empty.

Leaving your printer on takes very little power. Every so often the printer sends a signal to cycle the ink in the heads so it doesn't clog. If you turn your printer off, the next time you turn it on it will do a cleaning which wastes a lot of ink. The excess ink is soaked up by the waste pad beneath the printer. When the waste pad is full, the printer stops working. Unless you want to spend more than the cost of the printer or waste a lot of time on a messy cleanup you will end up throwing the printer out. So shutting it off actually shortens its life.

If you leave the printer off for extended periods of time, the ink in the heads will clog and you will have to throw the printer away. Someone I know with a Canon (though this can happen with any inkjet) had to have the heads replaced twice within the first few months before the Canon tech told her to stop turning it off. Since then it has worked perfectly for over a year.

How to clear blocked print heads:
-leave the printer on for a day
-run several head cleanings and print the nozzle check pattern
-if that doesn't fix it, remove the cartridge(s) from the blocked head and drop alcohol where the ink enters the printer.
-reinsert the cartridges
-run one head cleaning
-wait about an hour then run some head cleanings.
-dip the print heads in Isopropyl Alcohol overnight, which you can buy from chemist
-if that still doesn't work, your heads may be clogged to the point where they need repair or replacement, which will probably cost more than a new printer.

lots of people have had this myself included. Canon has made it so you need all cartriages full. I got just a black filled won't work nothing you can do but buy all colours. I am getting rid of canon next time I will make sure you can just use black and not have to buy all colours.

All in one MP210

This worked for me: hold down the stop/reset button til the indicator light near the on/off button starts cycling.  The color ink orange light remains on but I can still print black and white and scan as normal.  Good luck!

Color printing

well there is always a way to reset the ink reading from the printer software or drivers thats the first thing i can think about

but did you try to remove the color cartridge and put it back in after turning off and on the printer

i mean take off the cartridge and turn of the printer
turn it on and put the cartridge back

see if that is going to help

and as i said check the printer driver and right click on it go to properties and check the color management bar.

i hope that would be

take care

Printing in color

Since you already tried cleaning tha colored cartridges the next thing that you can possible do is to remove all the cartridges then turn off the printer for 5 minutes then put the cartridges back in and hopefully now the printer will be able to recognize that cartridges are still not epty, but if still the same thing try to use another colored cartridges if possible so we can check if that will also give the saem results...

Hope that helps.......
