We need a new remote for our ilo TV in order to hook up a DVD-VCR player!
I am FUN director at mountain View care center and recently purchased a new Philips DVD - VCR player, model # DVP3345V/17. We are currently using a different remote for our ilo TV, SDTV tuner - MTS stereo CCD. The oringinal remote has been lost and would be something our local cable company could give us a univeral remote that may help this problem. Also, the man at radio shack explained that by using the remote, one could simply switch the TV into the correct mode, however, the TV is not recieving the player. Do we need an RC adapter, our TV could be more than several years old. See what you think and please e-mail me at email@example.com
Re: We need a new remote for our ilo TV in order to hook...
First off you will need a remote that has the ability to operate your ILO TV. www.remotes.com has a replacement that will work for you. As you will need to access the inputs for your TV to receive the signal from your Philips unit

> jfthr - Tv convertor boxes transfer digital signals into ANALOG. So when it goes to the dvd recorder it IS ANALOG. I have my antenna hooked to my convertor box, the converter hooked up to the ILO (A/V connections) then, the output on the ILO to the input of my analog tv. (Video selection on my tv). It works great to watch tv and/or record. I switch to the "DVD SOURCE" to watch dvds. Maybe you have the conv box hooked to the tv then the outs on the tv to the dvd. That would explain why you can get a picture but not watch dvd? The ILO has to go between the box and the tv in order to watch dvd.
Following the instructions on hooking up the cables gave me fits. I finally just put the instructions away and winged it. Got it that way. Bypass your Ilo tuner. Hook the Comcast Cable (outs) up to the A/V input 1 of your ILO. Hook your tv combo A/V outputs, to the ILO A/V inputs. Select the Source and choose the cable source for cable and the combo source to tape from your VHS/dvd combo. Its a pain but you have to select Source everytime you turn the Ilo back on. You could hook your Cable to the ILO but would have to turn on ILO everytime to watch tv. Two remotes is a chore but you have to use tv remote for the volume anyway so it doesn't matter. Hope this helps.
Unfortunately the ILO TVs aren't a good investment. If you just purchased the television, I would return it as soon as possible and purchase a more reliable and well known brand. ILO support services is almost non-existant and there are several comments on other blogs regarding the Ilo brand. I have two ILO 26" HD, which I purchased in Aug '06 and am now beginning to experience problems.
Just run your outputs from your cable to the ILO inputs, then your ilo ouputs to the tv inputs. Use Cable remote to control channels, use ILO source button on remote to access the correct input setting on ILO. AND YES< you have to do this EVERY TIME you turn the ILO on to watch tv.. I have mine hooked up this way to record from my convertor box and My husband hates it.(when he just wants to watch tv.)
