Pressing the power button results in the power light flashing 5 times and nothing else happens

I would firstly remove the power source and battery, then remove the RAM and hard drive. Plug in the power source without the battery and press power. If it springs into life, remove the power, refit RAM and try again. If OK remove power and fit hard drive.

Hi there.I ve got this strange problem with my satelite Toshiba A200 1AB laptop.the problem is with the battery actually it wont charge when I plug in the charger with battery in it.But when I extract the...

Is the AC Power adapter the original adapter of the laptop? If it is, try to drain the battery and charge it for 8-12 hours without using or opening the laptop just charge it. After charging, remove the power adapter as you open your laptop. Make this way a habbit of using and charging your laptop to make the charging and battery life last long.

My laptop won't charge

What do u mean by "adjust the cord" ? If u have to adjust by twisting the jack in the power input port then it is neither the fault of the cord nor the of the battery but may be the fault of the power input port.
Go to Toshiba service center and they will solv the prob.

Hi I am having toshiba satelite a 135

I would suggest the following:

Step 1: Press the DEL key to get into BIOS while boot-up.
Step 2: Select the option where it says "Load default settings"
Step 3: save and exit BIOS

After doing so, if you are able to boot your computer, then a new CMOS battery would be required to solve the issue for ever. This problem could also happen, if you haven't used you computer for quite long.

Charging issues with a toshiba A215

Check the power adapter with a multi-meter, the voltage of the power plug that plugs into the power socket on the laptop should be slight higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on the adapter.
If it is faulty, there are replacement power supplies available on the Internet or at your friendly computer shop.
If the adapter is OK then the power socket on the laptop is faulty or this socket has a dry solder joint connection on the motherboard.
You can test this by wriggling the power plug when it is connected to the laptop, if the charge LED flickers and if you hold this plug in a certain position the charge LED stays on without flickering, then the power socket is faulty.
This can be repaired, but requires the laptop to be completely
disassembled. I suggest you get a quote first.

Can I use a DC adapter on my new Toshiba Satelite laptop for travel. If I can what kind is best.

Your power adapter is most likely a multi voltage adapter. Check the label on the bottom of the adapter, probably 110-240V. If so all you need is an international mains adapter plug so you can plug the power adapter into the mains socket in a foreign country.

"Plugged in, not charging", Toshiba Satellite A135 S4527, under Windows Vista Home Premium

It sounds like the power socket on the laptop is faulty and needs replacing or resoldering. To check this, power up the latop with the power adapter, wriggle the plug in the power socket and check if the battery charge indicator flicks on and off indicating charging and not charging. If it indicator flicks on and off then you have a faulty power socket.
This can be repaired but required the laptop to be completely dismantled to access the power connector.
