Run a video signal into one of your "video in" inputs like from a dvd player or vcr. If you get a picture then your tuner is bad. This happens all the time where I live...lots of lightning\power lines knocked down by falling trees that will cause power surges on the ac line. Your probem came through the cable\antenna line. Yes, it is cost effective to repair your set if it is expensive to replace. Tuners cost $20 to $75 or thereabout. Good Luck!

    Hello again! Forgot to say a few things....Does your screen light up??? Will the menu display on the screen??? If your menu does not display on your screen then the high voltage section of you set is most likely at fault. I still think the tuner is at fault because if a power surge comes through your ac line (or wall outlet) then the power supply in your set would surely have been taken out and the set would not power up in the first place.

Try first unplugging power cable for 10 minutes.

    Try first unplugging the cable, this will drain power completely and reset TV eeproms and circuits.

    If it does not work, try living unplugged for a longer time, for example leave it overnight.

    If the unit does not restart normally after this simple reset, that means that some of the components inside had been damaged.

    Any other possible solution at this point, involves taking apart the TV, testing internal components and replacing the defective part.

    Unless you are an experienced electrronic repairer, it is better to call a technician. If the solution above does not work, you can use the number listed on the owner manual to get repair support.

Today my power went out for a split second and came back on I turn my TV back on it makes a high pitched whining noise and the screen wont turn on. Cant add picture but model number is MW30G71.

unplug your tv. let it sit for a good bit. 1/2 hour did your power just go out or did you have a power surge then no power. surges cause the grid to go down for a second too and that causes problems too. surge protectors are good for everything. also are you on cable? if so have the cable company check they're filters into the house may be an issue but check the tv after a half hour unplgged and then plug in and turn on normally? sometimes it needs a reset time period before the fuses inside will reset themselves.

When the TV is turned on it has a green picture and has lines running across the TV.

It looks like your TV has experienced a power surge (storm, power anomaly, etc.) and your main decoding and scanning circuitry is fried. You'll need to send it in for service.

ok lets try this hit the power button on the DVD player some go into stand by mode and when power is interrupted you have to push the button manually also reset the surge protector next get a lamp that you know works and unplug the tv and plug the lamp into the socket where the TV was plugged into turn on the lamp, does it turn on? yes then something wrong with TV again may have been in stand by mode plug back in and try pushing the power switch on make sure the TV if it has a remote is on the right im put to get a picture say like a satellite or cable or DVD player. hope this helps.

Good Day;

Two things normally happens after a L storm:1.) One must unplug TV for 5 minutes, then plug back in. 2.) Main glass fuse out, will be near a/c cord. 3.( Power regulator IC may be out. Try these first.

Good Luck!

No power/ clicks 5 times.( At wics end!!!!!!!)

I would suspect either the High voltage distribution block and/or the high voltage transformer as being at the root of your problem, especially with the HOT transistor being bad. If this set went out during a power surge/lightening storm however, all bets are off.
