What do you mean by "faulty"? Get some error messages?
No matter what has happened to your flash drive, you'd better stopping using is immediately in case of any data loss.
Plunge it to your computer and download a flash drive data recovery freeware to take a chance:
http://www.freeware-fix.blogspot.com/2013/03/external-hard-drive-recover.html

This freeware will deeply scan your flash drive and retrieve all your wanted files back easily in the same way as it successfully retrieves the inaccessible data of my friend out of a RAW hard drive completely.
Next time, never try to save your important data on only one hard drive in case of similar problems.

The best option is to go for a genuine Data recovery Software. I had the same problem and i fixed with the help of Data Recovery Pro .

Data Recovery Pro can recover a wide variety of file types. It has the ability to retrieve missing files from many peripheral storage devices, including your iPod Shuffle, iPod Nano, and iPod Classic.

Data Recovery Pro is so sophisticated it can even recover files from freshly formatted or partitioned drives. A completely updated filter technology allows you to easily search for "lost" text, allowing you to find files by searching for just a key word or phrase.

All you need to do right now is stopping using your flash drive where you lost the files. In my opinion, you need some third-party data recovery software to help you.
Do NOT try & write anything back to your flash drive until you can recover your data safely! This operation is to avoid overwriting your flash drive.
Next step is to connect your pen drive to your computer and run the data recovery software on it. In most cases, if you didn't put new files to the flash drive in which you lost data, you can get back most of your lost files, even they are months ago. If you did, the chance of recovering your lost files will reduce.

My flashdrive won't respond at all. I think that it was somehow disconnected on the inside, but I have no way of knowing. Is there any way that I can retrieve the data or fix the flashdrive?

you can try some data recovery software. You can see
http://www.asoftech.com/articles/undelete-files-from-usb-drive.html
It tells the steps how to perform data recovery.

If above does not work, you may have to format the flash drive (use quick format), and then use above mentioned software to scan again the flash drive and recover your files.

Retrieve information from a flash drive

I don't know how to recover the files from a broken flash drive. I DO know how to fix one (which would resolve your problem), but that's not really something I can explain (unless you're experienced in computer and component construction).

Your best option would be to check your local listings for companies that can repair your device.

OR, you can look for a data recovery service in your area.

Finally, I do know a web site that can retrieve those files for you:
