Delete the drive and remove all drivers. reattach the drive ( i asssume it's a usb 2.0 enclosure ) then reinstall the drivers or better yet go out and download the lastest greatest drivers from the mfg. website that makes the enclosure. The bottom line is quite simply "you could pull the wd120 out of the enclosure and it would (if properly jumpered) readily install into your machine. Sounds like the machine and the external interface are not on the same page.
