Hello, bad lens. The lens is defective that's why it is showing disc error. The lens is no longer strong enough to read the files on the disc.

So does that mean it cant be fixed and I have to buy another dvd player. Wow now I really feel like I wasted my money on garbage.

  • Wale Sarumi KomputerSolution

Unfortunately, you can't fix it yourself. Its either you purchase another DVD or repair it.

Disc error shows when playing dvd

You may need to get the discs repaired or it may be your laser in the player need cleaning. Easiest soloution is to basically clean your disc(playside). Check for scratches on both sides of your disc. If the label side is scratched in any way, it might be unrepairable as this is where the data is stored, if the playside is scratched they are repairable. You can try home remedies if the scratches are very slight, if not professional repair is required. Try other discs in your player, if they are not working either, then it may the players laser is dirty and may need a laser cleaner, fairly cheap in some stores.

If it's the disc thats scratched visit www.discREPAIR.ie for FAQs and futher help or disc repairs.

After burning home movies on dvd - they won't play on dvd player or computer --- says disk error. Software says disc was successfully copied

Be sure you purchased compatible discs for your DVD player, ie. DVD +R or -R. Some players won't support both.

Disc error message when load DVD

Are you loading to play or to record?
Commercial DVDs should play.
DVDs for recording may not be recognized by your drive. First make sure that the disc is blank. You must insert a blank disc of the proper format: DVD-R or RW, DVD+R or RW. Even with the proper format, some brands may not behave the same way as other brands.

DVD Player will not play 20th Century FOX disks

The Panasonic is not "region restricted". This is a security safeguard by studios to keep people from region 1 from using region 3 content. Some material is released in other countries first and later in others. This keeps other regions from using the content from other parts of the world before it is relaesed by the studio there. Your Zenith is not a region free player and the Panasonic is. There is sometimes hacks on Videohelp.com for DVD players to be set to "region free" but not all DVD players are built with it. SONY is another non-hackable DVD player.
