How do I stop the GPS searching automatically

My 02 Xda keeps searching for a connection automatically. Even when I disconnect, I switch the Xda onto standby and as soon as I switch on it is already connected or trying to connect. It is costing me a lot of money being connected to the internet when I'm not actually using it.

The solution was helpful in that it pointed me in the right direction, but I was hoping to get a solution without going in that direction, as it was my ISP who gave me the settings in the first place, and obviously did'nt mention about having a manual setting rather than an automatic setting.

You need to contact the service provider and get your GPS setting from automatic to manual to avoid the gps getting connected..And check if your mobile as a navigation software installed on it ,if yes then it will try to net all the time ...

Good luck...

Reset ur setting and try

to perform a hard reset
1. Press and hold the Left SOFT KEY and the Right SOFT KEY, and at the
same time, use the stylus to press the RESET button at the lower left

2. Release the stylus, but continue pressing the two soft key buttons.
Release them only when you see the following message on your
device screen:
“Press Send to restore manufacturer default, or press other keys to
cancel.“

3. Press send on your device.

I want to increase my Android 2.1 LG GT540 phone battery performance.

Here are some tips to increase the performance:
1) Run a lower brightness setting on your screen. Make sure it's not set to automatic. 2) Don't run widgets that update all the time. The more your data connection is running, the more power you use. 3) Make sure screen is turned off when not actually using the phone. 4) If you're in range of WiFi (like at home) use WiFi instead of cell data. It uses less power. 5) Don't have your WiFi, GPS, or Bluetooth on when you're not connected to them. It takes a lot of power for them to continuously search for a connection. 6) Run less background syncing. If you can get away with your email syncing only once every 15 minutes, do that instead of it syncing continuously. 7) Search your phone model on XDA Developers to find additional tips.
8) Last one. Don't run Automatic Task Killers. They often times shut down needed background services which requires a higher CPU load to restart. More CPU load means more battery usage.

Does't connect to network - search Network

Hi
It sounds like you may have a poor 3G reception in your area. Even though other O2 phones are working better they may be running on the 2G masts in your area.
Try in setting/network menu turning off 3G reception, that way the device will only look for 2G masts. Your handset will give priority to 3G masts where available and sometimes will hold onto the weakest signal making poor call quality, and or dropping connection.
Advantages to using 2G only = better standby and talk time / better reception where 3G is poor.
Disadvantages = Slower web browsing / no video calls.

WEP / WPA will only apply if you are connecting using WI FI and have nothing to do with your mobile network connection.
Hope that helps?

Why does my bluetooth keep turning itself off ON MY 02 XdaII this even happens when it is all fully charged.

I has the same situation like you but opposite event. My O2 XDA II or Siemens SX66 or even calls Qtek 9090 is another version with your O2 has sometime Bluetooth keeps turning on. I turn it off for few seconds, it is on again. I tried to solve th eproblem by get ito the setting area to turn it off and reset my PDA. My PDA has the area calls Wireless Manager. I click on all three function including phone, wi-fi, bluetooth and go out of wireless manager area and get into connection and click on Bluetooth and turn it on or off then only Bluetooth get effected. I don't know why but that is I found out my own way. Just play around these features by testing it the way I mentioned above. i hope this help. This feature is not stable in these type of models. You are not the only one. ALSO, TRY TO GET IT ON TO CONNECT WITH OTHER BLUETOOTH DEVICES TO HOW IT IS REACTED. Good Luck
