Think i got ur problem. you have mentioned that you used a stepdown voltage covertor 220 v to 110 v (100watts). But Denon 2808CI model which you bought from U.S needs 110V (500watts peak power). so try running the amp with a 220V to 110V (500watts or more) and im sure it will work.

Your unit was probably damaged in shipping. Denon is a nice unit! Do you hear any clicks when you hit the power button??? You should hear two relay clicks. You should hear the power relay click at power on and 3 to 5 seconds later you should hear the speaker protection relay click if your audio amp section is ok. If you hear both relays click then your display circuit is at fault. Open the unit and look for breaks on the front pcb (behind the display) and on the main board in the power section ( where the fuses are ).
Good Luck!

fuses only fail from excessive current and not wrong voltage
take it in for a proper diagnosis but with twice the required voltage , the results will be --junk it and next time used the correct adaptor for the voltage

Lost audio for no apparent reason

Try unplugging your HDMI cable from the AVR I would like to see if your AVR is trying to use HDMI out instead of the composite. Next try plugging each device directly into your television, this will isolate the issue and tell us for sure whether or not it's the AVR.
