Question about Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Edition
I have Vista on an DELL XPS420. I have had 8 months of problems. I get kicked out of WORD & EXCEL when I try to open a file - I reboot and it may take several reboots - but it works again for a while. Another problem is the screen goes blank - DELL are now telling me it is a software issue and I must now pay their software technical support. I am really frustrated. Any ideas?
Which Vista package to do have and how much RAM do you have? It might be that you have way to little RAM to support Vista. Try run your Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications in program compatibility mode and see if that helps.
Control panel --> Programs --> Programs and features --> use older program with this version of Windows
It starts the compatibility wizard. Run those programs in XP mode and see if solves the issues.
Else It could also be bad RAM or something.. it's probably better to take it to a professional, and they can diagnose the problem more effectively.

Dell always provides System recovery with every PC,so you just copy all your personal files into external storage, then give system recovery, all the programs installed will get erased and then you install Microsoft office again. If they have provided you Vista DVD,then its better to format your PC,after copying files seperately.
