I have a 91 accord with a 94 accord vtec motor swapped in. I race on a oval track but cannot get the car to stop cutting out at high rpms. Its fine until I get up to normal running temp and then it starts to violently cut out. I can run it in third gear with no problems but its not as fast. Any ideas?

SOURCE: Ran the engine way too hard

Most of the time when this happends it has to do with valve train like broken valve spring, or bent valve , or even a bent push rod or colapes lifter, or rocker arm. At any rate i think your problem is in the valve train.

95 HONDA ACCORD MANUAL VTEC EVERY TIME IT HITS 3000 RPMS IT CUTS OUT AND ALMOST ALWAYS SHUTS OFF WHEN I COME TO A STOP. I CAN START IT UP AND DRIVE. DOES IT SOUND LIKE A PROBLEM WITH THE ECU?

no
sounds like the rpm limiter has been activated
shutting down at stop lights ,( normally with the foot on the brake ) indicates a vacuum brake booster failure
always run the fault codes first if the car is not running correctly

Is a 97 2.4L GM motor capable of oval track racing performance. I've heard the oiling system and water pump can't handle it. Also been told that they work fine? What is what?

yes the 2.4 dual cam works well and fits great in most eco stock racing rules. I run one on a 3/8 mile high banked dirt track. The engines are light and so are the cavaliers. The waterpumps are not the easiest but i did not find it near as hard as everyone online cried about to change. Im not sure yet on the oil pump having a fualt to the bottom end issues, i lean more on the counter balance shafts airiating the oil at high rpms.

I have a f20a motor in a 91 accord can I put a 2.2 motor without having any major problems

I would only do this with a 92-93 EX Accord motor and keep it OBD0. I did this with no CEL codes, works perfect.

Swap the following parts from your old 91 engine to the 92-93 EX motor:

Intake manifold
Engine Wiring Harness
Distributor
Exhaust manifold (header)
Air Conditioner bracket and Air Conditioner Compressor

Keep your current ECU in the car. Put your transmission on the motor before you drop it in.

If you go to the 94-97 / 2.2 you will run into some additional sensors, crank position sensor, etc... with that motor since it switches over to OBD2 in 1996.

Good luck...

I have 02 accord coupe and it says VTEC and automatic!! How do I know if the VTEC is connected!

ok lets break this down
Vtec= Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control

if you look on the the motor on the left side youll see 2 things the distributor and the vtec solenoid.. the vtec solenoidif the smaller of the 2 thats it m8 theres 2 wires running from it .. all vtec does is lift the cams on a high 3rd lobe :) rides in the middle of the 2 smaller cam's on a automatic it should pop around 5.200 rpms on a honda ecu thats not tuned.. also a exaust helps or a intake that produce a higher tone thats unmistakeable when vtec hits.. its a beautiful thing hit me up with any! honda stuff ive done swaps to my 92 prelude si 2.2l vtec and many more so i know a honda engine and wireing like theback of my hand

Is a 2.2 in a 91 the same in a 92?

Might need to swap over the computer as well if it indeed has one.

I see a few troubleshooting issues tho.
