Question about JVC HD-70FH96 70" Rear Projection HDTV
Last night Oct 8 2008 I installed a new sony Blu-ray player. As both of the HDMI ports were already in use I also bought an HDMI switcher unit. I hooked everything up and presto everything was good. This evening I got nothing after turning on the TV. I removed the switcher unit from the circuits and still nothing from the HDMI jacks I tried several combinations of the sony player, the LG DVD recorder, and Diredtv HD DVR sat receiver. I got nothing no picture, no sound. I Tried the TV menu, andthe menu appeared on the screen. I reconnected everything to the component, inputs, and composet, inputs and all is well, but still no joy with HDMI. what happened? Is it an easy fix? expensive? what?
Have you been using a flashlight behind the TV. These TV's have a sensor that shuts off the unit when the rear cover is removed (by sensing light). You may have tripped this. I think you can fix this in the service menu somehow but I can't remember.

1) Look at your laptop computer to see if
you have an HDMI cable port. This port is roughly half an inch wide and
provides both the HD audio and video signal. If you don't, you are going to use
a DVI port on the laptop. This is the same port you use to connect monitors to
2) Plug the DVI-to-HDMI adapter into the DVI port on the laptop with the
Blu-ray player. If you have an HDMI port on your laptop, you can skip this
3) Connect an HDMI cable to the HDMI end of the adapter. If you have an
HDMI port, plug the cable directly into the HDMI port.
4) Plug the other end of the HDMI cable into the HDMI port on the HD
television. Power on your television, press the "Input" button and
select "HDMI." You can now see the contents from your Blu-ray player
on the TV.
