Did you ever find a solution to this? I am having the same problem but i don't have the dvd player any more. Now I have family videos copied to DVD that won't play.

Same problem. I use Magnavox to play and dub to DVD. Some recorded DVD-R disc will read to other players - some will not. All discs have been finalized, and all will read to play on the Magnavox. It's very frustrating. If I insert the disc again and re-finalize, I get a message that it cannot be done. I'm wasting a lot of DVDs and a lot of time. HELP!

I have the same problem with my Magnovox which isn't mine. I can only play the DVD's on the Mag but not on my other DVD players.

You have to go into the Home menu and select setup. At the bottom left there should be an icon that looks like a dvd disc. Select that and then go to finalize and select that to finalize the disc. After that is complete it should play on any dvd player. I had this problem and I got through to LG's customer service line and had them talk me through it. After I finalized the disc, it worked.

The solution is: insert the DVD you recorded in to the same DVD recorder, then go to the setings and finalize the disc, the disc was not finalized when recorded. try it.

I have a Magnavox ZV427MG9. I follow all directions in manual for dubbing VHS home movies to DVD but when I try to play the DVD back there's nothing on them. What am I doing wrong?

Depending on the procedure you may be pressing the record button instead of the D.Dubbing or Dubbing button. When recording from VHS to DVD you must first, load the blank DVD and VHS home movies, then play the VHS movies, then PAUSE the VHS movie when you want to START recording... then the only the you have to do is pressing the D.Dubbing button or the Dubbing button. If your VHS tapes starts to play after the Dubbing button is pressed you have been successful in Dubbing.

VCR DVD Recorder not dubbing

I called the manufacturer and realized I was using the wrong type of recordable DVD disc to dub to. Non copy protected VHS tapes dub just fine as long as I'm using the proper disc.

No Instruction Manual

1. Insert a blank DVD disc in the DVD deck and
close the disc tray.
2. Insert the VHS video tape you wish to copy into
the VCR deck.
3. Find the place on the VHS tape from which you
want to start dubbing using the PLAY, FF, REW
and PAUSE functions. For best results, pause
playback at the point from which you want to
record.
4. Press the DUBBING button on the Remote
Control or DUB on the front panel.
The Dubbing menu appears.
5. Use the arrow keys to select the desired Record
Mode: EP, LP, SP or XP.
6. Select [Dubbing] then press ENTER or DUBBING
to start copying.
7. To stop dubbing at any other time, press STOP (x).
Dubbing will stop automatically when the VHS tape ends.

Recording dvd from vhs

you may not need a remote to dub a vhs tape to dvd.
look on the front of the recorder. see if there is a arrow showing dubbing vhs to dvd/ dvd to vhs. since you do not have the manual, you'll probably have to play around with it a while to figure it out. you will also need to know which format the dvd will record on. [dvd-r,dvd-rw,dvd+r,dvd+rw or ram] you can look up your recorder brand & model # online, then search for a manual you can download.
good luck.
