Blackberry Curve Rolly Ball Trouble

The rolly ball (middle mouse like button) periodically stops working and then begins again a few hours later. When it is not working, I can scroll up and down, but cannot select. Can you help?

My phone has been on the fritz as well. The roller ball works in all directions but will not select easily. I have tried taking it out and clicking the button with a pencil eraser and it depresses but 90% of the time does not select.

First how bad troubleshooting by manufacturer-sellers is! Not a word on this. Second, third and fourth, always use with case, no pockets, no bottom of bags; use with clean hands; and, clean very carefully with cotton swab mildly moistened with nail polish remover (from your favorite woman, mine gave me the idea), and then very carefully clean ball with it and wipe with dry swab. This is most likely caused by dirt.
There are a few steps to solve this and i am in no way liable if you break your phone. Things you should take note of before getting started.
  • Remove the battery.
  • unplug the phone from everything
  • remove any sdcard or other expansions
  • i would squeeze the excess alcohal from any q-tips prior to using.
  1. pry the trim ring off it has four clips dont push too hard or you'll break it. a small dental flosser works great.forested665_0.jpg
  2. Put the phone face down in your hand and the ball assembly will come out.forested665_1.jpg
  3. soak the assembly in rubbing alcohal, periodically you should rotate the ball and then resoak to get the dirt out.
  4. Clean the gold thing with a q-tip and rubbing alcohal.forested665_2.jpg
  5. allow all alcohal to evaporate.
  6. reassemble

Sony rolly will not play, the unit was dripped, it switches on , it lights up but nothing more , I,ve tried the reset button , a new battery , but still nothing. Any ideas. If not d.o you know the address...

I had same issue on my Rolly. The problem was in the damaged folder on Rolly file system. Fixed this by running error check in windows. Connect your device to computer, open "My Computer", right-click on Rolly drive, Properties -> Tools, click "Check now" in Error-checking area. I used Windows 7I think chkdsk command will do the job as well. Just run "chkdsk H: /F", just change H to your rolly drive letter

Cell phone blackberry trackball stopped working!

Use a alcohol swab and gently rub it over the trackball. Rub it and roll the ball.. Eventually this cleaned the ball and it worked perfectly!!!!

Trackball on Blackberry Curve not working properly

I found that removing the track ball and cleaning the contact and track ball with a cotton swab moistened with a small amount of isopropyl alcohol, it worked a 100 percent better when I returned the ball to the handset. DO NOT SATURATE THE BALL OR THE HANDSET WITH THE ALCOHOL!! ONLY USE A VERY SMALL AMOUNT!!!!
