Blackberry Curve Rolly Ball Trouble

The rolly ball (middle mouse like button) periodically stops working and then begins again a few hours later. When it is not working, I can scroll up and down, but cannot select. Can you help?

My phone has been on the fritz as well. The roller ball works in all directions but will not select easily. I have tried taking it out and clicking the button with a pencil eraser and it depresses but 90% of the time does not select.

First how bad troubleshooting by manufacturer-sellers is! Not a word on this. Second, third and fourth, always use with case, no pockets, no bottom of bags; use with clean hands; and, clean very carefully with cotton swab mildly moistened with nail polish remover (from your favorite woman, mine gave me the idea), and then very carefully clean ball with it and wipe with dry swab. My tracking ball has stopped working. Tried removing the battery while powered on, but it's still not working properly. Can move sideways but not up or down and can't retrieve messages.

All that is, is dirty. Just push it down a few times and try to roll it in a circle and dislodge what's stuck in it. Once you get it rolling free. Take a cotton swab, dip it in pure rubbing alcohol, not dripping, and rub it all over the ball, move the ball around and let it dry for like 3min. Your ball will be fixed and clean

The mouse/ scroll thing on my BlackBerry Curve is continuously moving upward. I try to go into messages and chats and i cant view them because the mouse keeps moving up to old messages in the chat. Can...

This is most likely caused by dirt.
There are a few steps to solve this and i am in no way liable if you break your phone. Things you should take note of before getting started.
  • Remove the battery.
  • unplug the phone from everything
  • remove any sdcard or other expansions
  • i would squeeze the excess alcohal from any q-tips prior to using.
  1. pry the trim ring off it has four clips dont push too hard or you'll break it. a small dental flosser works great.forested665_0.jpg
  2. Put the phone face down in your hand and the ball assembly will come out.forested665_1.jpg
  3. soak the assembly in rubbing alcohal, periodically you should rotate the ball and then resoak to get the dirt out.
  4. Clean the gold thing with a q-tip and rubbing alcohal.forested665_2.jpg
  5. allow all alcohal to evaporate.
  6. reassemble

My track ball scrolls on my blackberry curve but niether the keypad or the track ball works. how can this be soved without buying a new phone?

try cleaning the track ball with a qtip dipped in alcohol or nail polish remover.. It could be that the track ball isn't "reading" correctly due to oil, etc.

Trackball on Blackberry Curve not working properly

I found that removing the track ball and cleaning the contact and track ball with a cotton swab moistened with a small amount of isopropyl alcohol, it worked a 100 percent better when I returned the ball to the handset. DO NOT SATURATE THE BALL OR THE HANDSET WITH THE ALCOHOL!! ONLY USE A VERY SMALL AMOUNT!!!!

Buttons on the curve not responding.

Im seriously upset for no reason I am getting the same problem. Out of nowhere all my buttons don't work but my trackball scrolls. When I put the battery out and in it takes me to the menu where I can scroll until it fades away but I can't select anything. Menu also appears when I plug in the charger but soon to fade away. None of the buttons work including the voice command or volume etc. My phone was never wet I take very good care of it and the little sticker behind the battery is white. It happened one time earlier this week and I was able to resolve it by removing the battery and rebooting it several times. Now I am stuck in the middle of nowhere at an oil rig with no cell phone. I will be sure to tell my service provider how upset I am about this and I'm not sure I will be getting another Blackberry at all after this kind of **** happens. My RAZR worked great for years not a single issue.
