The contacts are dirty. I have solved this by rotating around - left and right - a number of times. In the end, however, you need to clean the contacts. I never managed to do this satisfactorily before it burned off somewhere else. Too bad, a very nice amp.

Look around for a subwoofer which has speaker level inputs.
Something like this;

The only safe way to do this us to connect the sub to one of the other speaker outputs using a "speaker selector" switch. For example, you would go out of the receivers left speaker output, into the selector switch then out of the selector switch into the sub and the left speaker. There really is no other way.

Google the complete model number of your "amplituner" and see if a schematic is available from the parts suppliers or if a complete schematic is available from Denon..

We have a Denon 980R amp. The input selector switch has a mind of its own roaring all around the dial
