Question about HP Officejet 6310 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Repeated "carriage jam" error, but NO real jam!

Help! My HP Officejet 6310 consistantly prints or faxes ONCE, then shows "Carriage Jam" error. There IS NO jam. I just press OK, it bangs around horribly, & then is ready to work again ONE more time ... then ... same. I believe I am up to date on drivers and see no help on the HP site. Any ideas??

Yes, same thing with me. Mine is about 18 months old and gets a fair amount of use.

And now, just today, it has started paper sheet intake in a nonuniform manner, pulling the right side of the paper in further than the left, and then jamming up.

Carriage jam all the time for the last 2 weeks or more! There is no jam of any kind & am about ready to take a "sledge hammer to it" kind of frustrating. Short of taking the whole thing apart pc by pc. I really don't know what to do with it.

Acdr should have his "Wiz" and Expert ranking removed permantly for this insulting comment, he obviously does not know what he is talking about otherwise he would know that this model printer does not have a toner cartridge, fuser aseembly or taplon tape. these parts simply do not exist in this model printer. This sort of misleading information and this user should be removed from this site if it is at all to maintain any credibility

HP 6310 carriage jam then a message to shut down

If the 6310 has been in service for awhile, the printhead runner dries out. Try liberally spraying the printhead runners with WD-40. With the power off, slide the carriage to the left and spray the runners in the parking area.

Carriage Jam

If either a paper jam or blocked carriage error message appears on
the control panel display, there might be some packing material inside the HP allin-
one. Lift open the print-carriage access door. The orange shipping lock might
still be in place on the left side of the HP all-in-one. Pull out the orange shipping
lock and throw it away
