The turntable system consists of the motor, the coupler, the turntable support with rollers, and the tray.

You can see and hear a video of how a turntable motor should sound when you rotate it by hand.

If yours won't rotate right or it sounds like it's grinding, etc., you may have a bad motor or plastic coupler.

To replace either, you generally need to unplug power, then remove the bottom cover of the oven. In some brands, you have to cut the motor cover off with snips, then use a screw when reassembling it.

I'm not sure if they supply parts to consumers, but I would recommend that you contact Dometic Customer Service. Let us know how it goes!

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Manual for a whirlpool microwave oven model wmh31017aw-1

There is no turntable control. It is always on. The turntable should change direction each time the unit is used. If the turntable is not operating, it has malfunctioned. Newer microwaves for the most part all have full-time turntables to promote even heating, thus reducing customer complaints about ovens that don't heat right.

My LG Microwave LRM2060ST turntable has stopped turning. This is a 1200 watt 2.0 cu ft countertop model.

If the oven is heting and turntable not turning, then the problem is either the turntable coupler or the turntable motor.

The faulty part must be checked and replaced.

In microwave ovens, I have had the turn table motor unit become defective, or the power source to it has failed.

Microwave turntable won't turn

You may have a tunrtable motor or spindle problem..
This info is from GE website..( link : http://genet.geappliances.com/geasearch/Dispatcher?REQUEST=GETSEARCHRESULT

To minimize the possibility of electric shock, unplug this appliance from the power supply before attempting any maintenance or cleaning.
  • Make sure the turntable is centered and seated properly. On models with a stirrer motor there is a shaft protruding up through the floor of the microwave. Make sure the turntable is securely fastened to this shaft. On models that turn on a ring with wheels attached, make sure the turntable is seated securely on the ring.
  • Check the turntable to make sure it is placed right side up. If the turntable plate is upside down it will drag on the floor of the microwave.
  • Check to make sure that there is no food or debris under the "wheels" of the turntable ring. Food can prevent the wheels from moving forward.
  • Be certain you are pressing a cook function rather than a timer function.
  • If the microwave has a turntable on/off feature make sure the turntable was not inadvertently turned off. Try depressing the turntable on/off pad to re-engage the turntable.

Turntable turns, but in a constant jerking motion. The plate ring turns free so there is no binding.

It sounds like your turntable motor may be going bad. It is located UNDER the carousel and easy to get to by removing a few screws from the bottom of the oven. You can try running the oven without the carousel tray and watch the spindle to see if you can detect the same jerking motion. This would confirm the motor has a problem. If the spindle runs smoothly with no weight on it, but begins to jerk with the carousel placed back on it, the motor could still be bad, but you may also have a spindle that is slipping. In either case, replacing both would probably be a good idea just to be sure. Make sure you place a glass of water on one corner of the oven. It's not recommended to run a microwave oven empty. If you determine the motor is defective and want to replace it, make sure you unplug the oven and remove the bottom panel of the oven. There should be a couple of wires connected to the motor and the spindle just pops off from the inside of the oven cavity. It's a fairly simple repair job and will run about $30-$40. Let me know if this helps.
