So if you have ever had your ps3 connected to HDMI (HD cable) before, and your forgot to change it back to the normal cords that came with the game (yellow, white, and red) then you will have to connect it back up to the HDMI and go to the Display Settings and change your video output to the one that came with the ps3 (which looks like just one yellow in the settings.) then after you do that then the screen might go black if your HDMI and regular cable are on a deffirent channels, so you turn to the channel that the yellow white and red cable needs to be to, then it will show the screen and ask you if you want to leave it at this setting with this video output/cable then you say yes then your good to go.

My playstation 3 will not play in 1080p. It used to work, but when we switched cables, it wont work in HD.

When you switched cables, you mean you changed the cord running from the PS3 to the TV? HD content requires an HDMI connection from the PS3 to the TV. It is possible that when you changed cables, you replaced the PS3's HDMI cable with Component Cables which can only deliver in Standard Definition and not in High Definition (720p, 1080i and 1080p).

80GB PS3 displays Snow/White screen during playback

Did you ever figure out how to fix this. We simply took our system and hooked it up to a different tv and it stopped. I personally think the problem is with the HDMI cable and wether the cable and the socket are connecting.

I just bought a PS3 from someone who doesnt have the user manuals. Im not sure how to connect it to my tv. I connected the HDMI cable. Is there something else I have to do?

you have to tell the tv to expect a hd signal just like changing extentions with scart leads. you will have options for hdmi 1-2-3 etc.
once you get a picture go through ps3 settings carefully.

Ps3 plays audio but does not show image on tv

Well you can just use the hdmi cable if you're going both audio and video in to your tv. With your hdmi cable you get the best quality for both.

But in anycase, it seems that your PS3 is set up to output video via HDMI cable. To reset our video output settings, simply power down your PS3 (turned off) and hold down the power button until you hear the second beep. (around 5-10 secs) Power back up and hopefully you'll have video via your av cable. Hope this helps.

Connecting ps3 to hd tv

ok here's what you do. Hook up your ps3 to your hd via hdmi cable then turn the tv on first. Then turn the power on to your ps3 and switch tv to hdmi. wait a while then a screen should come up and you should see and screen where it says an hdmi device is connected do u want to accept theses settings say yes. sometimes the "handshake" doesn't happen properly. If u already know this or have tried this it could be that your tv needs a firmware update, happened to me.

Resolution problems/ Game problems

Well it might be becuase your ps3 is european. Im no expert on the matter, but when i bought an hdmi cable and hooked it up to my hd compatible tv, i switched to the hd input (which happened to be input4 on my tv) and a message popped up saying that the ps3 has detected hd output, would you like to change settings? and it did it automatically after i hit yes.

You could have the wrong AV channel on your TV to the slot you have you PS3 plugged into your TV with.

Or you colud have set your PS3 to a HDMI setting while using a non-HD TV, I think there's a way to reset this setting on your PS3, check the manual.
