Question about Canon Cameras

1 Answer

I have a Canon MV600. when switched on to 'camera', all I get is a blank screen. Occasionally it will work normally. I suspect the iris is not opening and the iris motor sounds a bit rough. do you have any idea what the problem is likely to be and how much this repair is likely to cost. Incidentally, I also had this same problem with an older analogue Canon model so it would seem to be a common failing.

The US version of the MV600 is the ZR60. Canon has issued a service notice for this model world wide that seems to address your issue. The US version can be found at this link. Canon will repair any unit regardless of warranty status if this is found to be the problem. Contact your regional Canon service agency for details on getting your unit evaluated/repaired.

Black screen

CCD failures are rare. I would suspect that the iris is stuck. This can occur if dust or dirt gets into the lens assembly or if there is a deposit of oil on the iris itself. Try gently tapping the side of the unit while on to see if you can release the iris.

Nikon coolpix 5700 When switched on the view finder and the screen display information but no immage. In outher words the screen lights up but is blank. Please help.

The camera has a iris problem . The Iris of the lens maybe stuck up and is not opening due to which no image can be seen. Opening a Lens to fix that requires expertise. I would recommed to look for a repairman in your area

CANON POWERSHOT S2 IS 5 MEGA PIXELS

I bought mine 2 1/2 yrs ago too. Found this solution on this site and tried it. It worked perfectly.
Turn to TV mode, set the exposure to 15 seconds by pushing the little "arrow dial" until you have 15"
Push the button to take the picture.
Wait 7 seconds from when you push the button, then turn over and open the battery door while it is "taking the picture."
Close the battery door and turn back on.
I did this three times and the last time, it worked and the iris became unstuck.
Then I took a million pictures to get the iris moving.
Good luck!

Canon Powershot A570IS Problem

I have seen the same problem with my A570 IS. When pointing to a window or in an outdoor environment the iris within the lens closes completely within ~3 steps (look at the lens when pointing to the window). Therefor it is not a LCD issue at all. The fact that you can still take a photo with a closed lens rather suggests that the iris controlling software is corrupt. This will most likely just require a firmware update.I hope Canon will soon provide the software online.

Cant take the picture

Probably the ccd imaging unit has died, or the cable that opens the iris has failed, either way this is not a user repair
