Does you drive make any sounds like these? If yes you have a mechanical problem and you should get a specialist to work on it.
If not - possibly there's not enough power from or PSU or something's wrong with the cables.

I cannot connect SATA HDD

SATA HARD DRIVE - XP INSTALLATION
The problem is that XP installation CD does not have a SATA driver, unless you have a SATA drive on a disk etc. and can install the driver when XP asks for a hard drive driver then, XP cannot detect the hard disk and therefore won't install XP. The FIX. Go into the BIOS and disable the SATA drive (enable IDE emulation), this will make XP think it is a IDE/PATA hard disk. Then you can install XP normally. When Windows has been installed then install all the device drivers (including the SATA driver), then shut down and boot up and got into the BIOS and enable the SATA drive.

You can try by taking out the bios battery first it might of died on you theres also a ultimate boot cd you can find and download for free i had this problem before put on usb if you get to the bios screen see if it detects your cd drive once the batterys are out hold power button down for 15 to 30 seconds this should at least give you basic function drivers and make sure you have it detect your hardrive and move boot device to cdrom first then have windows cd in computer on reboot windows xp without sp3 probly wont detect a sata drivenot sure might have to use vista

Hello, Where could I find a driver for WD5000KS SATA? I am trying to upgrade my desktop PC to Win 7 but when installing it, the setup could not detect the SATA HDD and asked me to load the HDD driver. ...

Check in your BIOS,first make sure the SATA controller is set to native mode and not RAID, and secondly that the BIOS can detect the drive, if the drive can't be detected by the BIOS then it's because the drive surpasses the boards drive size limitation.; If this is the case there is a chance a BIOS update may fix it but it's not guaranteed it will.

replace your cables and try again. if unsuccessful locate your hardrives manufacturer ie: maxtor software MAXBLAST , download the hardrive software utility and ``0 fill`` your hardrive to factory default.

Hi,

If you have access to another computer, download Gparted BootDisk

This will boot on any system and allow the format assuming the hard drive is actually working

External hard drive enclosure help

Is it a small disk (about 3 inches wide) or is it a larger one (about 6 inches wide)? Problem is, XP don't have the drivers to "see" SATA (Serial ATA) laptop drives. Try upgrading to Service Pack 3 to see if it solves the problem.

System can detect Fujitsu MHY2160BH : 160GB HDD, but cant install

it seems that your computer might have a SATA hard drive which could not be detectable by windows xp, try to install vista it will detect it easily.

otherwise use dm (disk manager) for detection and partition.

Install windows XP on toshiba satellite U300

Hello
The windows Xp installation doesent find your hardrive because you have a sata drive. you need to adjust the settings in the bios so the sata drive appears as a ordinary IDE drive(ide native) or something like that. search in the bios settings.
A other way is to burn a new winxp cd with the Toshiba Satellite U300, sata drivers.
download the http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Back-Up-and-Recovery/Barts-PE-Builder.shtml
and download the toshiba harddrive drivers and creat a new cd.
but the simples way is to make the change in bios.
good luck
