- Serials are usually case sensitive
- Mistaking letter O and number zero 0
- Mistaking letter l and number 1
If on the other hand the serial keeps on coming up as invalid then probably the software is not genuine and in this case should be returned to the supplier.

What you can try, is right clicking on the program, go so settings, look for "compactability" and choose "windows XP servicepack 3", and the running the program agein. This might solve your problem.
