Hi trbgllc,

I can\'t tell you exactly where to get them, but I can tell you there are several places you can check for price and availability.

If you wish to go directly through Dell, see below:

J6335 PAPER FEED ROLLERS 5100CN

Spare Parts Sales 800-357-3355

Another option is to go to Google.com and enter the part number: J6335 in the search.

I just did that and found several suppliers and price ranges. a few of the links from that search are below.

Keep in mind that you require a qty of 2. I believe one of the links below shows and prices the qty of 2, and the other may only be showing the price for qty 1.

Good luck. ( below are the top 4 results from a google search ).

I would call Dell and get a price, including shipping, then compare it to "total cost" including shipping that you might be able to find with an on-line supplier before making a decision.

I have personally found that the online suppliers are usually less expensive and usually reputable.

Are you trying to use the "MPF" (Manual Paper Feed) tray?

If you are then the manual paper feed tray is usually a fold down flap at the back of the printer. It only accepts on piece of paper at a time.

However, if you are just trying to print to the printer's default tray, then you need to check both the "Page Setup" in the application and the printer driver properties to make sure that you are calling the correct paper tray.

5100cn has sections of printing that smears

You have uneven heat from the fuser. May need new rollers and bearings, or maybe a paper scrap wrapped around the rollers.

Entering the Service Menu Plus

Thallant, you can enter the menu by turning off the power switch, then turning the switch back on while holding down the up and down arrows on the panel. Hold them long enough to see "customer mode" (or something like that). There are lots of things in that menu I'd love to have a guide to, but I haven't yet found a guide.

5100cn paper not stacking correctly in output tray

Hi MCRES,

I am attaching a photo for reference of the outer duplexer assembly of the 5100 printer.

00dec72.jpg
This the area just to the right of the yellow arrow is what moves the paper from the exit of the fuser to the top output bin. ( it also brings the paper back in when duplexing ).

Those are the rollers that I believe you are questioning, however, this unit is an assembly, and those rollers are not replaceable.

I can tell you however, that I have never had a situation that required those rollers to be changed.

What I would suggest is that you clean the rollers with a lint free cloth and rubbing alcohol.

Also check the printer while printing and try to observe that it is not actually the front edge of the paper coming out getting hung up on something ( even a small bur on the plastic ) that may be preventing it from exiting all the way.

Hi mcres,

I believe that I addressed this issue on the repeat post you made on 10/27/2008.

the following is the answer I posted there

Feed problems dell 5100cn

Did you replace the two paper feed rollers? The paper feed rollers are located on the inside front of the paper tray cavity. you can see them by removing the paper tray, then peering inside the cavity.

As far as the actual question on how to remove the side covers on this unit, you must first remove the top cover frame.

Top Cover Frame removal
  • remove all toner cartridges
  • press the front latch, and then rotate open the inner duplex assembly.
  • rotate open the imaging drum cover.
  • remove the two screws securing the top cover frame to the chassis. ( be very careful not to drop any screws, as they will fall deep inside the frame. I suggest using a magnetic tip screwdriver.
  • press in the 2 tabs securing the back of the top cover frame. ( use a small flathead screwdriver to insert through the two slots located behind where the black toner normally sits.
  • rotate the imaging drum cover open slightly, and then pull the top cover frame up and back to remove it from the chassis.
Right side cover removal
  • remove the screw securing the right side cover to the chassis. ( this is located at the right rear, inside the side cover near the black toner. again use care not to drop the screw.)
  • press the tab securing the front of the right side cover, and then rotate the cover away from the chassis.
  • remove the cover.
Left side cover removal
  • remove the screw securing the left side cover to the chassis. ( this is located at the left rear, inside the side cover near the black toner. again use care not to drop the screw.)
  • press the tab securing the front of the cover to the chassis
  • lift the cover upward slightly, and then away from the chassis to remove it.
Good luck.

PS. please take a moment to rate the solution.

Thanks

Dell 5100cn Laser Printer Multipurpose Feed Problem

I had the same problem, my solution was:

1) Go into the Print dialog window, select your 5100cn printer and click the "Properties" button next to it.
2) Select the second tab, labeled "Paper Tray".
3) Select "MPF" from the "Paper Source" drop-down list.
4) Click the "MPF Settings" button and select "Envelope".

That should allow your program to print to MPF for envelopes. This needs to be done in your software, setting it on the printer's control panel didn't work for me.
