My SA6045/37 is dead dead dead. When I plug it into the computer it flashes the blue Philips screen off and on for about a minute then nothing. I have tried to repair it but the computer doesn't recognize it. I thought maybe it was just that the battery was dead because I haven't used it in about 2 months but I can't even charge it (on the computer or in the wall).
Any suggestions besides to throw it in the trash (which is what I am about to do)?

had same prob to the T...found this post and it fixed it...it's the computer not the zen...once I did the two steps my zen started charging and turned on...go figure...the flashing blue light doesn't mean it is charging. posted on Feb 25, 2009
you have windows set to do automatic updates, you most likely had a
windows update installed that caused this conflict with Win Media
Player 11. No fix has been posted by Microsoft yet, so the only
workaround is to Uninstall/Rollback Windows Media Player 11. Goto
<Control Panel<Add/Remove Programs and remove Windows Media
Player 11. Follow prompts, restart computer when prompted to. Also
uninstall Windows Media Player 11 Runtime application following same
This will roll your Windows Media Player back to version 10 or 9,
whichever you had installed prior to version 11. You will need to
re-configure Windows Media Player again.
Your Zen should now be recognized by WMP and Creative software. You
probably need to upgrade your firmware at this point, follow the
instructions on upgrading your firmware, and you should be good to go.
This is a windows problem, not a creative problem. Dont blame Creative
for the screwed up hotfixes that Microsoft puts out on a regular basi
I just fixed mine about two minutes ago - just plug it into your computer. Even if it does not recognise it, it should eventually turn on again. From there you should be able to reboot it. Mine is fine now.
Make sure the hold/lock switch is not engaged - see manual for details. Probably needs to be replaced - that is a sure sign of a hardware issue, and it is not something that can just be repaired. but, just to be safe, try this: Triple Reset for Philips’ GoGear:
Disconnect the Go Gear from computer. Press the reset pinhole until the player turns off.Hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. If this pop-up does not appear, reset the player again WHILE connected to the computer. Open the Philips Device Manager, and go to Repair Tab.Reset the player one more time while connected to computer. Follow the repair instructions.
After repair is complete, upgrade the firmware for this player. Will erase all the songs, but you should be good to go again.
i have the same problem i let it die completely, and then i plugged it in and then the screen was black nothing but the blue LED is on but it flashes...please help i just got this a couple of months ago!!!!!!
Usually this problem is due to the firmware. When the firmware is updated to version 1.62.02, this problem usually will be corrected. The older firmwares have problems in recognizing the battery and allowing the battery to power the unit.
You will need a wall/AC charger for the operation. Plug in the wall charger and USB cable at the same time. Your Zen should power on when connected to direct AC power via the wall charger. Once it is powered on, connect the USB cable to your computer. Then begin the firmware download.
If your Zen does not power on when connected to the wall charger, your unit is dead and its time to replace it or get the motherboard replaced via one of the Repair services offered on this website.
If the upgrade button on the firmware window is not available, it is also time to replace your motherboard due to corruption of a chip on the board.

the battery is dead completely you either have to get a new battery or borrow one from someone, put the new battery in switch on the go gear plug in the chargerr then put your old battery back in (keeping the charger in and the go gear on) keep it on charge and it should be ok, i bought a job lot of em with the same fault all worked no problem after that
