Hi there
you don't say what size your memory card is but 20 secs means its very small.
a 1 gig card gives around 30 mins of standard video 2 gig 60 mins etc, its half that time if you record hq. your camera can only use up to a certain size card so be careful if you buy one and check the manual to see the biggest it can take.

My camera only records for 20 seconds, can i fix that?

I assume you mean videos only record for 20 seconds. Check your card....if it is an SD or SDHC card, it needs to be at least a class 6 or better to keep up with the camera while shooting videos.

Movie recording disabled keeps appearing on the screen when i try to record

this would be the type of discs you are using thats causing this error......... make sure you change the type of Disc or this problem would occur if the disc is not finalized...

There are two ways of recovering video from an unfinalised -R/RW. that I know of.
The first is to download IsoBuster. You will have to pay for it to use the save feature.
The second using Nero Recode. This comes as part of the full version of Nero 6 or 7. This will copy the VIDEO_TS folder off the unfialised DVD to your hard drive.

Lost my manual! How do I record a video?

CHoose the menu or Dial the menu to someking MOVIE ICON usually like a box with 2 circle above it (represent the movie recorder icon). Then press the shutter to record and press it again to stop. Just make sure your camera's memory (either internal or external) is enough. For other setting like resolution and frame per second (FPS) you may change it on the Menu. The bigger number on FPS meaning the video become more smooth but it take a lot of memory.

I can't record more then 20 sec video file

I'm sorry to inform you but after researching your camera only records for 20 seconds. It has nothing to do with your card. Only 20 second blocks of time.

Movie mode - The total amount of recording time available is shown by the green "00:20" in the lower right hand corner. This is SHQ 640x480 resolution at 30fps, the maximum recording time is 20 seconds. In the lower quality 640x480 @ 15fps or 320x240 size, the recording time is limited only by space on your xD card. The shaking hand icon indicates that we have the image stabilizer turned on.

When I take a video with the A710is and load it onto my computer it plays in a small part of the screen. When I try to go full screen it becomes extremely blurred. Do I need to change my camera setting or...

Your camera has a variety of resolution settings for video. The better the video quality, the more memory it will use. Make sure you have adequate memory for high quality recording. The 16 or 32 mb cards these things come with, will not record more than a couple of seconds using the high quality settings (hence, the manufacturer, by default, uses lower resolution settings). So, first, buy a 1 - 2 gb card. Then, go into your video settings and select what you want.

Go pro camera video not recording

Be sure to have fully charged batteries and format your SD card using the FAT format. Start by taking the batteries and SD card out, then reinserting after at least 30 second. Here's an unofficial GoPro user guide and tip sheet that I hope helps. Please only apply the GoPro firmware update to GoPro Hero Wide cameras - not the Hero 3 or standard lens models. Recorded video segment plays back in fast motion. How do i reset

This is a really simple problem and easy to solve.  Unfortunately the videos you've recorded cannot be changed back because they have been recorded in Time Lapse mode.
With the camera switched on in Video Mode turn the control dial on the back (this is the dial to the right of the LCD screen).  This will change the settings from TIME LAPSE to STANDARD.  There are actually 6 different modes but the best one for normal videos is STANDARD.  There is a HIGH RESOLUTION setting,  however these record fewer frames per second (fps) so whilst the quality is better per frame,  there are half the amount of fps so the the movie will look at bit jerky.
It's really easy to accidentally twist the dial when holding the camera,  so always check the icon in the top right of the LCD before recording to make sure its just a yellow camera in a yellow square.
This should be problem solved for all future recordings.

File failed message

The same thing happens to me when I try to record thru the "A/V in jack". It appears (my first thought) that the camera is trying to record to the internal drive and it runs out of memory really quick. But then, when I play it back, (the small 15 seconds or so) the audio and video are not sync'd. Most of the time at least. Very inconsistent. It also locked up and froze for me too. I had to remove the battery to reset it. Once or twice it recorded normal, (once when I reset the default settings and another time just out of the blue) - I thought I had it solved but it went back to "File Failed" after about 17-20 seconds of recording on the next record session.

I have the thing packed up ready to take back, but am looking for a solution so I can keep it..

Play back has black line through it.

Cleaning may still be the problem. Try running the cleaning tape until it automatically stops (about 20 seconds). You may do 3 passes before giving up. If you still have a problem, you are going to need a servicer. Make sure you have a known good tape to test playback as the error is in any recent recording after the problem occured. Same heads for both functions. Good luck, magic seadog
