No paper My printer gives me a message that there is no paper. Paper tries to feed, but does not. It tries to pull it on the right side, but cannot grab and pull the paper in. Any ideas?

Hi,

A possibility is the presence of a foreign object lodged between the feed rollers and the bar/plate. Pls try to visually inspect the area where the paper initially feeds into, use a flashlight. It is possible that the printer has paper clip, stapler, bits of paper, tape or something stuck anywhere in the feed area. Other possibilities are:

  • too thin paper;
  • paper a bit damp and sticking together, try fanning;
  • dirty feed rollers.
Incidentally, the paper sensor is actually a small lever activating a switch. It would be a small bar that moves down when a stack of paper (or even a single sheet) is placed on top of it. Try locating this lever and exercise the switch underneath by depressing the lever a few times.

Hope that this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Give one paper per feed and try.

it must detect the paper.

if the paper is getting pulled in one side it must be OK with sensor.

just a proper cleaning work may be required

Every time I try to print something, the paper doesn't pull from the tray straight. It pulls to the left side and crumples the sheet of paper so that it can't feed through the printer.

You do not state the type of printer so it is difficult to give exact instructions, but I know what your problem is. Something is stuck in the paper path on the right hand side, hence the reason is skews to the left because the left side is able to advance and the right is hitting the obstacle. If your printer has a paper drawer, turn off the power, remove all cords and the cartridge. Pull out the paper drawer and then carefully stand the printer on it's back so that you can see where the paper goes as it comes out of the tray. You will likely find your problem right there. If you can repost with an actual model I can give you a much better idea of how to find a paper jam but these instructions should help you.

Tip

Paper does not feed properly

I was sick of the dreaded please load paper message I pulled the printer apart cleaned every thing to no avail. There is a roller on the right hand side where you feed the paper in. A small raised section behind the roller is used to pinch the paper between it and the roller. When this wears the paper will not feed. TO FIX Push a small piece of plastic it must be slippery (I used a 2 cm * 6 cm off an old xray) behind the roller Then use sellotape to hold it in place. No more dreaded load paper messages

When feeding my paper it keeps pulling the paper

You need to replace the feed rollers. One side is probably worn. You should be able to buy a rebuild kit for it. Try ebay.

The machine gives a false error message.''misfeed A :internal path

Pull out paper cassett and look for paper in the feed section. Fold a sheet of paper in half and using the blue lever inside right side door feed paper between feed rollers. Make sure you do the whole width of feed section. There might be a small piece stuck you can't see.

Lexmark x4270 wont feed paper

In this Case take out the Paper from the Paper Feed Tray........ Unplug the Power Supply from the Printer.......... Remove both the Cartridges from the Printer.......... Now take a size 10 Envelope fold it so that it should become like a thin long strip........ Now Insert that Envelope on the left side corner of the Printer and move it from right to left and left to right as fast as u can for about 10 times.......... Now Insert the Ordinary Papers onto the Printer and insert both the catridges and Turn on the Printer...... It should resolve the Issue......... Good Luck..........

Printer 2480- my printer is pulling paper only on right side

Try this :

1. Turn the printer off and open the access cover.
2. Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.)
3. Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button. (On the X83, press the Select button.)
4. Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring.
5. Check to see if all the rollers are turning.

If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6.
If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service.
6. If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot.
7. Turn the printer off.
8. Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
9. Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.

Your printer is politely asking you to please get a torch, and open the lid of unit and thoroughly check inside all over for a tiny jam of paper or something else. I am willing to bet you will find some jam. I would also switch it off, and wait a while before turning on and printing again. Good luck
