Zenith 27" TV

After a lighting storm, tv would not turn on. I looked for a fuse but can not find it. TV has power to it.

If the tv has power you may look at the drive for the horiz. it may be missing esp. if the lighting took out the micro i.c. from where the drive is derived or any associated components

One thing to try would be to unplug the set for about 10 seconds or so in case the microcontroller is out of sync and not responding to the power button. As far as lightening damaged sets, it does have a fuse but in my own experience, it rarely blows fast enough to protect the solid state circuits and is probably still good. If it still doesn't work when you plug it back in and assuming the fuse is good, then I would suspect a bad voltage regulator or even shorted transistor if it was on when the lightening struck. There are also possibilities of "swollen" surge damaged electrolytic capacitors that took the brunt of the lightening. Depending on the age and condition of the set, it may not be worth repair.

Zenith sg2706h will not power on. Checked 4a fuse and unplugged for couple hours and plugged in still won't power on.

Hi
Please give more details: are the standby light on or not? If the fuse is OK, I assume the standby light is on. In this case the pull up circuit may be faulty and you can confirm trying to call a channel from the remote controll and see if the light blinks. Generally is a faulty transistor in the pullup circuit but a TV schematic is required.

Dark picture after storm.

Dark picture? hmm.
meaning there is no brightness variation, assuming this is the fault I think U might be having low screen voltage. Check for high value ( around 2W) resistor, preferably from 100K to 680K on the "C" board or neck board. Post back

Tv will not turn on after sudden power outage

you most likely blew a fuse the only "reset" is to unplug the t.v. and leave it unplugged for a few mins, then make sure that you hold down the power button to drain the power out of the t.v.then turn it back on.... only other reset sequence is for removing the parental code

Zenith 27inch B28A11Z keeps powering itself off

Hi Pswglaw,

From the way you describe the problem, it seems you have a high voltage leak. To check this, make the room dark and look into the back of the TV while turning it on. If you see something like lighting jumping around you have this high voltage problem. The TV will eventually destroy itself under this condition. I would suggest not using it until you get it repaired. The repair cost will be much lower if the TV is still working when you take it in. The high voltage leak will destroy more parts and cause the TV to stop working. Then it will blow a fuse.

Tv blew up

sounds like the typical power supply or sweep problem in the zenith chassis. depending on how old this set is will determin if its even worth trouble shooting or taking it in to be looked at by a pro. If your not experienced with tv repair i would call a repair shop or take it in as tv sets have high voltage stored in them even after they have been unplugged for a while. If youve tinkered with tvs in the past or know someone who does zenith tvs are made for a complete chassis exchange. you can Call PTS Corp at 1 800 844 7872 and see how much an exchanged referbished chassis would cost and go from there. Good Luck
