Dell Dimension 4400 Won't Turn On

My Dell Dimension 4400 won't light up at all this morning. It looks like power supply but is there a fuse to check anywhere first?

What does your headline "Dell Dimension 4400 Power Supply ** FREE **" mean?

My dimension has bad psu. I had replaced it with dell HP-P2507F3CP psu. (Original PSU NPS-250GB B). When plug in, there is green light at the motherboard, but amber light at "on button". Fan at the PSU also not running.
Is it wrong choice of psu?

    I have the same problem

the green light on the inside is on. I did what you said to do and nothing turns on. When i try turning it on, a very dim green light appears in the on button and it is not bright green as it should be. the fan doesn't turn on and there is no sign of anything powering up. does this mean i need to buy a new psu? if so, would the above mentioned psu that didn't work for that person still be a good fit for the 4400?

What if the flea light does come on... then what. My daughters computer has been having a problem on and off. Sometimes it will start ... lately I can't get it to start at all. Blew dust out from inside and that seemed to help, but only temporary. Now it won't boot at all

Inside the pc there should be a green light. called flea light. if its not on.. then id say motherboard or power supply are bad.
take power cord off. and hold power button down for 10 ecs. then reconnect and retry. i think its abad psu.

Here is my fix for the dell dimension 4400 amber light problem. It works!
replace cmos battery.
then unplug power cord form wall about 5-10 secs.
then plug it back in, wait 5 secs.
If amber light comes on, press and hold power button until it goes out.

(with light out, press and hold power button while amber light comes on and goes off again holding power button 2-3 secs after light goes out.) repeat whats in parenthesis until computer turns on
it should only take about 6, 7 tries.

After the computer boots, you may want to setup cmos or boot into windows.
After you shutdown, unplug power cord for 5-10 secs then plug it back in.
Press and hold the power button, computer should come on.
I found that's the only way to turn on the computer.
If you shutdown and don't unplug power cord the computer may not boot, mine didn't.
Strange I'd say

There are three dummy lights that this model is equipped with. One is the obvious "everything is in order light" which is solid green. Two, a blinking green light that means your puter is in stand by. Or three, a solid amber light which means you have an electrical issue. Flea lights in this case are usually but not always bad. If the lights are on it can mean a bad hard drive, motherboard failure, ore a fuse if you are lucky. If the flea lights are off, 9 times out of 10 its a power supply which is great cause its the easiest and cheapest computer repair you will ever have. Try doing a rebuild before you buy new hardware but I'm sure its your PS!

Computer shouts down in 15 to 20 seconds after starting

The specs say the PSU is ATX compatible. Whether that is for the connector only or for the whole power supply is something you will have to determine.

If you have an ATX power supply handy (like in an old computer) give it a try. This one is only 300 Watts so it won't likely be expensive to replace.

Dell Dimension 4400 NEVER froze (8-9 years old) until a week ago - kept freezing at start-up - - had to interrupt power SEVERAL times to restart - - tried to power up yesterday - - make a slight sound,...

You need a power supply! Go to Amazon and search for one that is the same specs as yours. Fairly easy to replace, don't use your old one anymore, it could be dangerous.

Computer acts like it in standby mode will not power up, made a weird noise according to my daughter and quit

Test your PSU or replace it if your power supply units fan is not working your PSU is faulty

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect/ boot up a computer hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electrical extensions or just replace them they are probably old and faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

hope this will help

Dell 4400 Main power in house went off while using my computer and then went back on about an hour later. Now when I try and restart the PC, the power button light turns yellow like it is in sleep mode...

The power supply or mother board probably went out. Did any other items in the house stop working? This happened to me years ago and the electric company reimbursed me for damages.
You can try unplugging the power cord for a few minutes, then retry listen for any beeps from the computer. If it is powering on but nothing on the screen and no beeps *********** board is probably toast.

It seems like it that you have a faulty power supply. Also the motherboard may be damged aswell, But most probably you can fix your PC by changing the power supply.

Push button small light in middle comes on fan on power pack turns 1/4 turn and that is it

i have this problem with my E Machines W 3104 and i unplugged it and still i could make the fans turn on like you said for maybe a quarter turn, plus the lights would basically flash once every time i pressed the power button. after the little death beep noise from inside when it loses power completely i plug it in again and it will turn on just fine . the first time it did that i thought it was because it had too much power built up in the power supply, and maybe it did but it ussually turns right back on after "draining it". try that and see if it helps at all

Have a yellow amber light blinking

A Blinking Amber or Yellow power button means that the power supply is receiving power from the source but is unable to properly distribute it to the components. This can be caused by a defective power supply or a defective motherboard. Just to make sure that nothing else is causing the problem, remove any PCI cards like modem, video card, sound card, etc... Remove the memory modules and disconnect cables to CD/DVD drives. Look at the USB ports to see if any are damaged.
