You have 5 memories that can be used to store a numerical value (A, B,C,D, and E). Whether these qualify as variables is another matter. There are also system variables in STAT mode, but you can store values in them. They only hold the values that the STAT feature calculated.

SOURCE: Standard Percentages on TI-30X IIS

You must enter 100+10%100 or 100+10%(100). This will give you the correct answer of 110.

Your calculator is configured to display results in Scientific notation
8*5=40=4.*10^(01). Exit scientific mode by resetting the calculator or changing the display mode to fixed or normal.

My TI-30X IIS is stuck on "fix"

You can use FIX notation display but specify the number of digits you retain. Press [2nd][FIX] and select the number of digits after the decimal mark (from 0 to 9). However if you do you will constantly have many unnecessary 0.
You can set the display to FLOAT.
To do so, press [2nd][SCI/ENG]. From the three choices you have select FLOAT.

Press the key that is marked with a small circle, an apostrophe, and a double quotation mark. That is the DMS key. You can use it to convert from Decimal degress to DMS and back.
