Printers randomly stop working

Dear Expert,

I am an IT support person for a church that usesthese printers everySunday to print out check in labels. Quite often, like every week orevery other week, after changing labels the printerstops working. Ifyou change the printer to a different workstation issometimes worksjust fine. The problem is that the printer has to be setup again. Weare running Dell PC's with Windows XP SP3. Have you heardof this orhave any idea why they would just stop working? Noinformation in theEvent Viewer either as to why is errors out.

Same thing on Sunday morning they do a check on the printers to make sure they are working. The test print is then done on them if it doesnt print they unplug it and plug it back in and then test print works fine. Works fine for for a while and then at random 2 of the 4 machines always the same two the printers stop working. No errors in the event log no nothing. If anyone can tell me what is going on with this please send me a post on this ASAP. I would like to get this fixed before Friday. Thanks!

I just RE-HOOKED my Dymo LabelWriter Twin Turbo back up to my PC - where it WAS working fine before I disconnected and used it on another machine - now the labels won't even feed through - it's as though the whole machine is STUCK. The lights are on so I know it has power - they just won't feed.

Hi Will,

This machine doesn't have on and off switch. After changing label roll you need to unplug power for a few secs and plug it back in. This will stop windows from showing the "print error" message.

Our SATO M-84Pro printer will randomly pause between labels when we are printing a large quantity of labels. Any suggestions?

The internal memory of the printer is limited. When printing large files the memory is refreshed several times to complete the print job. This is normal.

Something is causing the printer to reset and start again. The unintelligible stuff is caused by the printer having lost its setup. The most likely problem is that the printer is losing power. Check the power cord at the printer, at the brick (if it comes apart there) and at the outlet. If you are using a power strip check it. If all seems ok, try plugging the printer into another outlet without a power strip and/or in another room. If that doesn't fix it, more expert help is required by a service person.

Not printing all labels

Do a calibration, this should fix the issue. Also make sure that the label stopper (silver peg on label holder) is pressed firmly against the labels. This will stop the labels from sliding around during a print, throwing off the calibration. Also check to make sure the sensors are free of any dust.

Check the size of the label in your codes or driver.
The length must be correct or else you cannot use it correctly.

Sent too many labels to printer - need to reset

As the previous expert has stated, with the printer paused, press the cancel key to cancel the job. One thing to note, is depending on how your software sends the print jobs, you may say print 1000 labels, but the software sends it one at a time, so basically you have 1000 print jobs in the printer. If you pause the printer, press and hold the cancel key. Hold it for about 2 mins. This should clear the buffer.

Possibly because the button does not work, causing the advance of the labels. Replace it.
