Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

Philips convergence Ok - I have pulled both resistor 3156 and 3155 out of the board and after closer examination find that they are in fact the same 6.8ohm, 1w resistors as all the others. Both have been fried and that is why I didnt think they were the same. I tested both and they are dead. I replaced them both but still have the same problem with convergence. The centre of both the top and bottom of the screen 'bend' inwards and all colours are 'shadowed'. Do you know what may have caused both these resistors to burn out and what else I can look at? Cheers. Lukev

The convergence ICs are what cause those resistors to fry, But its possible that others are also burned without any outward signs. They have to be checked by lifting one side of the resistors out of circuit.

SOURCE: I have freestanding Series 8 dishwasher. Lately during the filling cycle water hammer is occurring. How can this be resolved

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

The picture is blurry and there are red lines in all programs mainly on the right side. advanced convergence doesnt work and when i use my dvd player the red lines are everywhere

You have several bad grounds in the convergence board. This TV will also need a new convergence IC. I believe it is a STK 393-110. It has poor grounds on its pins to the circuit board. I would suggest you replace it with a new one, it would be heart breaking to resolder the original IC and discover it is bad. It takes quite a while to pull this board out and replace. Be sure to check the 2 watt less than 10 watt resistors too. They can be bad. And I cannot tell you enough...there are also many, many bad grounds through out this convergence board. Please really examine this closely. Solder any and all ICs attached to heat sinks, power resistors, transistors, transformers etc. This TV is worth repairing. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support!

STK392-120 is convergence correction amplifier.. the problem is the convergence circuit... try to check the small Valuie electrolytic capacitors or High value resistors! maybe the said parts is in change Value... used a ohmmeter tester to find the chenge value parts!.

Replaced Convergence IC's and now no power

is this a typo-replaced Stk392-120 with Stk394-160 because you cannot interchange to that number IC you can go to a STK392-160 also you cannot check resistors in circuit because you will get the resistance from the circuits around them you have to lift one leg out of circuit to test them.if you need further help or further information pls let me know

Have you tried just replacing the STKs? This set uses two STK392-120s I think.

Jvc av-48wp30 convergence problem

1. if the 1.5 ohm resistor was open, then you may have fried your new convergence ic's. Sorry
2. bettween a 1.5 - 1.9 ohm resistor will work
3. press sleep button, set to 30
hold down video status button and press display on remote
select convergence from the new menu and hit OK.
Do fix the convergence before you try to align the convergence or it will look horrible after you get the circuit fixed and will be harder to align.

The white button is there because the DCU (digital convergence unit) can be erased by holding that button and turning the set on.
I WOULD NOT RECOMEND THAT AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope this Helps.

Tv convergence

You will need to have a qualified technician replace the convergence IC's and possibly 2 resistors
If you are somewhat experienced with properly unsoldering the old parts without damaging the pc board you can replace the IC's yourself.
Most Philips CRT Projection televisions use 2 generic number STK392-120. These are mounted on a large aluminum heat sink
and soldered to the bottom of the pc board
There are sometimes 2 or more resistors that may be burned most often these are 6.8 ohm 1 watt

These parts can be found at www.tritonicsinc.com be sure to get the "original Sanyo" or the Philips brand, do not use the cheaper versions that come from China

good luck
