Question about Cooktops
Cooktop indicator light stays on all the time. Only 4 years old.
Can I fix it myself and how or if not, can I just lift the top up and disconnect it? Do I need to worry about it? It is only a warmer element. In the Pic the control is the one on the far right on the key pad. We are first time home owners and really cannot afford to pay to fix it.
Thanks for any help

SOURCE: Remove ceramic cooktop
grouch, kill the power to the cooktop. You are going to have to remove the mounting brackets from undernieth and push the cooktop up. After it's up from it's installation position remove the side and back screws holding the top to the botom. Remove the burner knobs and it should come apart. Sounds like you have a bad burner switch. You will have to replace the top.
Check your owners manual, you should have a 5 yr warranty against cracks if it was not due to something being dropped on it or improper fit in the cabinet. The warranty will cover the top but you will have to pay the labor to change it.
You need to quit using it until it is repaired to keep spills from getting into the elements and burning them out.
Post back if you have any questions.

I know that some people have mentioned that it looks like it's on, even when it's off. Depending on how the light hits it, it can look like it's glowing a bit. This would be normal.
