I am getting an error : Cannot communicate with scanner. Cable may be disconnected or scanner may be turned off. Check status. Scanner driver will now close. Code : 2,155,0

My brand new Pixma, right out of the box, behaves the same way. Printing works fine as does copying. Occasionally I see part of the image while doing a scan preview, then the image disappears, and I get the error. My previous scanner (Lexmark) worked fine, but the printer was broken, hence the new purchase. Thanks in advance!

    HOW CAN I FIX THIS

  • Anonymous Apr 22, 2009

Solution #1 is the best. It solve my problem and save me time.
The MX310 printer does not work for network scan. It works only if you directly connect the printer to your computer via a USB cable.

    Thx

I read somewhere that the printer/scanner must be plugged directly into the computer in order to scan.  I tried it, and it works.  Printing can be done wirelessly, but apparently not scanning!

Hello. I have an solution of this problem! I had the same problem. The nonworking scanner problems are :
1. a USB cable too long (after 1 meter)
2. if the cable is connected throught a USB hub
3. if you didn't install the software correct
4. Windows (xp/vista) sais that the printer you had connected into the computer is not recognized

How make it work:

in case 1. buy a USB cable that is shorter that 1 meter (the last variant to choose0
in case 2. connect the USb direct into the computer
in case 3. inninstall the software and install it (make sure that the antivirus and the internet and other programs are closed; install cd 2 too)
in case 4. put the USB in other USB connector

Then the scanner must work!

PS: If the computer still saing that "cannot comunicate with scanner" do this:

    1. umplug your printer USB from computer then plug it 3 4 times (you must to hear a sound that confirms that the printer is in or out)

    2. turn off then on your printer

    3. connect disconnect your AC Power

    4. rester your computer

    5. connect the USb

    6. restart it again

    7. start scanning

    Now it must work....

Cannot receive fax. It goes into memory. LCD reccomends new B-CRT regarding my Canon PIXMA MX310 printer . No problem sending fax, copying or printing.

B-CRT is just asking for a new black cartridge, fax will not print until it's replaced so you don't get a partial fax that you can't get back after printing.

First of all, delete all the copies of that printer in the folder and try again. If possible delete them all and reinstall the printer.

Canon mx310 feeds paper w/out printing

Normal 0 Could have a corrupt driver.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and when the CD software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud
