Question about Bose (321GS) System
I hooked up my bose 321 system with a hd digital cable box. I also connected the red and white audio cable plus a optical cable to receive the dolby digital 5.1 sound. The bose system reads the signal as sat/cab 2.0 . When I disconnect the hdmi cable to my tv. the signal then changes to dolby 5.1 with but with no vidio. The optical cable is connected to the cable box per the instructions with the bose system. I imagine its a matter of setting something different, but Im all out of guesses.

The Bose VS2 does not pass the HDMI audio. Must connect analog or digital audio direct to the corresponding audio input on the media center. Also, verify you have loaded laster Console Software revision provided by Bose.

I'm amazed at the range of comments regarding this system; they range from unbridled enthusiasm to some **** words.
Before I try to help, if I am not familiar with a specific model but have a clue to what the nature of the problem might be, I research the item to see if I find some support for my suspicion.
You might keep tabs on some comments I found relating to a possible class-action lawsuit due to the array of problems that have appeared with this system.

audio has to connected seperatly.vs 2 is for video connection only..Bose is a ripoff.... u pay all that money and you need a seperate audio connection plus all those wires..it isn't worth it and regret i bought it.

Well, it seems that this may be a common issue with this BOSE unit. My 321 GSIII was working fine as well for about a week. After a full frustrating day of switching, disconnecting, reconnecting cables and resetting the unit and TV several times, I was forced to call the BOSE Technical. They tried to help with the situation over the phone by directing me to do just about everything I did before I ever called them. After about an hour of their unsuccessful help, they left me in saying that I will now have to run Composite cables because my TV will not connect for some reason through HDMI even though it was working for a short time. AHHHHH...I custom prepared the walls in my new office to accommodate non-exposed cables and wires and now BOSE is saying to expose Composite cables. Tomorrow, I am going to connect the Composite cables to confirm if the 321 will now work that way (for curiousty). I will then call BOSE back and demand a replacement unit. I will keep all in the loop with my progress of this situation.
