Our printer is networked and last week suddenly stopped printing.
It could be coincidence but it was around the time that the server had just been rebooted.
When a print job is sent so far as Windows is concerned it has printed.
If the Printers window is open from the control panel you can see the job spooling, printing, deleting in the jobs list and the printer light flashes once when the job is sent but the printer remains dormant.
You can ping the printer and it is there.
From the menu you can print a test page fine.
It says the imaging unit and transfer unit need replacing - would this cause it to just stop working? The fact that the test page prints ok suggests to me that they are still alright at the moment and I don't want the expense of buying new ones if the printer will still not work.
We have restarted the print spooler and I contacted Xerox who advised me to disconnect it for 5 mins and that would sort it! - needless to say it didn't.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Xerox Phaser 6100 will not print
Yeah you need to replace that imaging and transfer units for it to print. That has a counter on it and once it comes up with that message it will not print anything.
NOW THE WARANING. Once you replace the unit. Everything you have sent is in the memory and will print out. What you will want to do is once it starts printing, continue to cancel the jobs until they are all out of memory. Believe me, the jobs are there....

I don't have an answer, but I can add some detail since I have the same problem (6250 that suddenly won't duplex).
I have a wired network with multiple Vista machines connected and have been duplexing just fine for YEARS with the same PCs and same drivers. One day my wife complained she couldn't duplex and I messed around, updated drivers, rebooted everything, etc. etc. and finally gave up and sent the print job from my laptop where it duplexed just fine.
About a week or so later I noticed that my laptop would no longer duplex either! Once again I updated the drivers, rebooted, tried different settings, etc. etc. but no luck.
I'm pretty convinced that a Windows patch has caused this issue (which is why there is a timing difference between my machines). I've rolled back my system to remove several patches and things seem to work fine again, however I'm not exactly sure which patch causes the problem AND within a few days Microsoft reinstalls the patch automatically.
Unfortunately I'm not confident that Xerox will put much effort into fixing this driver problem since this is not only an "old" printer, but I don't think many people do much duplexing (so there won't be many people yelling for help).
I'll let you know if I find a better work-around or fix.
It sounds like you need to check your addressing. Sounds to me like your IP address reset back to default. You need to go into the network settings and check your IP address and make sure it is set to manual and not auto. I believe your printer did a reset and your address is wrong.
