Why is my hp pavilion a1220n product number ED904AA-ABA?

Try removing the 512 MB memory to see if it does work with the 1GB stick only.

It's not the power supply that does have a problem. It has something with your memory stick.

I think you really need to boot from a boot disk (windows xp - vista - 7) for your operating system - and attempt a repair from there. Your computers have different motherboards and parts.. windows installed drivers for them are not close enough.

I have had success in xp by doing this: before removing drive from old computer - you go into device manager and remove everything - drives, video card, mother board last and leave keyboard and mouse .. so you can shut it down .. then install into new machine and it finds most everything and then you install your drivers there.

Good luck,
Bill

Hi Iam vijay I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY COMPUTER My system was infected with virus so i had to format it. i inserted a hiren boot cd and formatted c drive then i restarted my system to boot from cd i got...

The Hiren CD is a tool and you correctly formatted your hard disk, but Hiren CD does not install Windows on your hard disk. You need the Windows installation CD and the Windows installation product code to install a fresh installation on your hard disk.
The Windows version that was installed on your computer and the installation product code is on a Windows label that should be attached to the back of your computer.
If you don't have a Windows installation CD then contact Compaq/HP for a copy.

From the manufacturer's web-site:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bph07366&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&os=228&product=77620&lang=en#N1141

view the specifications for your HP Pavilion computer.

However, HP (and Microsoft) no longer support Windows 98 (since 2004!), so any device-drivers are no longer available from HP's web-site.

Your system was originally shipped with "Microsoft (R) Windows XP Home Edition". So, contact Dell, and order a replacement set of CD-ROMs, to reinstall Windows XP, which will install the correct device-drivers for your hardware.

Installed a new hard drive

Well, since the new hard disk is not formatted, and there is nothing currently on it, you will not get a dos prompt or an operating system detected. What you need to do is insert your Windows XP disk, then reboot the machine. When you see the HP screen, tap the F12 key, which will take you to a boot menu. On the boot menu, choose your CD drive, then the computer will boot from the windows disk. From there, just format your disk, and install Windows.

Do you have a Windows XP disk?  If so, insert that to complete the installation.  If that doesn't work, try using this link to download SP3.

HP PAVILION 760n

tell me if there is something i need to know like: what were the things that you've doing with your computer before the problem happened?? are there any recent hardware/software changes?? tell also your OS- is it XP or Vista...
1

first, let's try to check if the problem is with the monitor or not, okey? try unplugging the monitor blue connector at the back of the tower.and make sure that your monitor is turned-on.If you can see a colored bars displayed.you monitor is okey.if not, try a known good monitor...if it woks the problem is with the old monitor.(resolved)

2 (if not)
Now, complelely turn off your computer and try reseating all the cables, and your hardware components such as memory, video card,IDE cable and so on. but before doing so, unplug the power cable and then push the power button to drain the power.after reseating everything, plug back the power cable and turn on computer.try listening to the tower, tell me if you can hear some beeps also.

if no video issue is still there, try putting a known good video card if you have any.if a known good video card works then the problem is with the old one..

if the problem is still there after everything that you've done try calling the manufacturer. this is lead to a motherboard problem but try to call them first.

Tower trouble

The hard drive is either broken or missing. The hard drive must be replaced and windows needs to be reloaded before the system will work.
