Please don't rate this, as anything other that FixYa drops my rating, but I feel you'd like an answer, even if you don't like what it is.

This is DEFINATELY NOT a do it yourself job !

If you have to ask, I'd say you are not certified to handle refrigerants, don't have an evacuation pump, or the proper charging equipment. Then of course there's the brazzing with silver solder too.

DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS REPAIR YOURSELF.

GE ARTIC PROFILE REFRIGERATOR....INTERMITTENT HEATING

Sarct, the question is, was the freezer side ok, if it was, I would suspect the damper not opening. If the freezer side was warm too, then I would suspect the evaporator thermistor not sending the signal to the board to terminate the defrost. Have the tech first check the continuity at connector J3. He should have 400ohms at J3-1 to J3-2 and the same at J3-3 to j3-4. If he doesn't get those readings have him check at the damper motor itself. If he doesn't have it there, replace the damper motor. If the damper motor passes all the checks then it's on to the evaporator thermistor. Have him check the resistance. At 5 degrees it should ohm at approx 36K ohms. The evap thermostat is redundant to the defrost operation. It's there as a back up in the event the evap thermistor fails to terminate the defrost. It's normally closed and will open at 140 degrees.

To continue from my last Question, to do with HVAC Evaporator/Condenser Cycles, how often should the System go into Heat Standby, Heat Defrost, and Heat Modes? What are Heat Standby and Heat Defrost?

In this type of system (heat pump), the evap and condenser swap functions by means of a reversing valve, according to the mode selected. Evaps throw off cool air, condensers, warm air. In heat mode, the condenser is the indoor coil and it throws off heat from the outside air. Vice versa for the cooling mode. Heat Standby would be whenever the temperature thermistor has reached set point by the user and shuts down the system. Heat defrost is the cycle that reverses refrigerant flow and defrosts the outdoor coil by sending warm refrigerant liquid to that coil. In heat mode, the outdoor coil builds frost and ice on its surface.

Purchased new Samsung refrigerator 2 days back "Body gets warmer".

If there is no fault on the cooling and the freezer/fridge section works without any issue then there is no reason to be alarmed. It is quite normal that the heat exchange coils can heat and since this is mounted on the body it will become warmer . The higher the heat exchange - which is higer cooling. Set the thermostat to NORMAL.

Refrigerator not cooling properly

evap. coil could possible be frosting up due to a defrost problem, this would keep the evap. fan from blowing air into ref. section. it also could be a bad evap. fan motor or it could be that the ref. inside light bulb could be staying on due to a bad light switch ,you would be surprisedhow much heat a 40 watt bulb produces

Ice at bottom of freezer of MAytag MSD2756DEW

CALM DOWN . YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO FEEL HARM AIR AT THE BOTTOM OF THE RF AT THE KICK PLATE IT CALLED HEAT EXCHANGE WHICH IS A GOOD THING CAUSE WITHOUT MEANS YOUR MACHINES SEALED SYS. IS DEAD BUT THAT NOT THE CASE SO IF YOU HAVE ICE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE FREEZER THAT MEAN YOU HAVE A CLOGGED EVAP. DRAIN. TAKE TE BACK PANEL OFF THE FREEZER AND AT THE BOTTOM OF THE EVAP. COILS YOU WILL SEE THE DRAIN WHICH WILL BE FULL OF ICE , USE BOILING HOT WATER TO MELT THE ICE AND CONTINUE TO DO SO UNTIL THE DRAIN FLOW SMOOTHLY DOWN INTO THE DRAIN PAN. YOU HEATING ELEMENT IS FINE BUT YOU MAY WANT TO CLEAN YOUR CONDENSER COILS

Freezer Frosts up at top of heat exchanger and blocks air flow

Sometimes the fan only runs when the door is closed. Try closing the door first if you don't hear it running then more than likely it's the fan. The fan comes on when the temp in the refer falls above 36 to 38 degrees. After the refer reaches temp then it cycles off. It should be running every time the compressor comes on.
