This is a failure of the vertical deflection circuit. If you can solder and wish to attempt the repair yourself, please let me know and I'll supply additional details and procedures.

Thanks,
Dan

The thin line image appears when the vertical deflection unit is not operational. This is a major fault for which you will have to take the tv to a repair shop - several components (starting with the vertical amplifier) will have to be replaced. In the mean time do not use the tv, or it may fail completely.

I have a TV of this model. When I turn it on there is a white line that goes across the screen. There is no picture. After about a few minutes there is a distorted picture on the top half of the TV but the...

Hello
Vertical output sectionj inside the circuit board of your RCA tv is damaged. From your description I understands that there is some loose soldering occured in that section. Just open your TV, locate the vertical output section and resolder most of the soldering points in that section by applying a little more solder. The proble of your TV sholuld be rectified. To locate the vertical section, follow the four wires going from deflection yoke, ie, coil fitted on the neck of the picture tube. There will be four oof them, out of which two of them will be thin relative to the other two. Usually colur coded as blue and yellow. Colour code should always not be the same as described, and it can be changed to set by set. Any way these four wires reach to the main board and socketed there. Follow the track on the print side of the board, where the above said two thin wires are connected, and you will reach to the vertical output section.
If this does not help, replace the IC used in that section with same type and number. If you want any more assistance, please inform me by Fixya. OK.

Ihave a rca 27v414t. the problem is it won't turn

Any malfunction associated with a flashing light usually indicates a circuit problem or defective component. Unfortunately, the days of taking off the back cover of your TV and replacing a defective tube or fuse are long gone. Proper servicing will require troubleshooting procedures that can only be performed by a qualified electronic repair facility or professional television repair person. Ask for an estimate and a realistic appraisal of whether the set can be adequately fixed. Depending on the age and condition of your TV it may not be cost effective to repair.

Rca 27v414t shut off by it self after a feww seconds.

Most likely the TV is detecting an internal problem with it's circuitry and is shutting itself off to prevent further damage. You'll need to have a professional look at your set to determine exacly what's going on. Aside from leaving the power cord unplugged for five minutes, then pluggin back in and trying it again, there's nothing anyone can do from here. It may work, but it's a long shot.

Hope this helps, and please rate my advice, good OR bad.

Good luck!

TV powers off after an hour or so

Hi Chuck, intermittents will definitely try your patience, It`s obvious the problem is with a poor solder connection or loose plug/connection. It would help immensely if you would tell us make and model number of the set. From your description I would unplu AC cord flip the main board over, get a bright light and a magnifying glass and start checking your solder connections, I`ll bet you have several, check closely low voltage power supply area (where your AC cord attatches to the set) and the high voltage area where the flyback is (large plastic part with large red or black wire coming out of the top), your looking for connections that are cracked or dull grey (overheated) solder, if you need more help keep asking thats what were here for, good luck, BMW Rider

Rca tv no picture

You can turn up Screen control in back of set on the High Voltage Transformer and see if you see anything like a thin white line going across screen. If this is happening then it's your vertical IC output gone. It will have to be changed and a 100uf@50v cap in the same area.

The vertical output IC or the vertical circuit is whats at fault. its all solid state and im sorry to tell ya that its not a user replaceable part. This set is probably not worth the repair it would take to get this set working again but please if you like ask a ;ocal repair shop what they thought about this problem.. Good Luck and please dont forget to rate this thread
