i'm not sure of the age of your laptop but it may have wireless available then all you would need is a wireless router to conect to your modem for internet and other computer on a network or a switch/router, you may want to consider this if you have no service tech available close to you.

Here.. this is the manual for your unit

on page 343 it gives your ways for you to contact samsum world wide.. look for the number in your continent or possibly your country... be ready for having to send the system to another country depending your actual location

http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/200605/20060524094118640_R55_manual.pdf

I have no clue where auckland is (this is the internet not your neighborhood and forgive me for flunking neighborhood geography of the world... I'm just kidding.. but I think you got my point)

good luck!

HP Desktop Modem broken ethernet port

Try to load the latest driver, you can get that from HP under your computer. If that does not fix it then go buy a cheap USB Ethernet adaptor from Amazon or BestBuy, plug it in to a spare USB port and follow the directions for the adaptor with your Ethernet cable plugged into the new adaptor.

That is it, you have bypassed the bad Ethernet power and can forget about it (they can't be fixed), you should be good to go.

If you don't want to try the driver, then just get a new adaptor and that will bypass the internal adaptor.

Good Luck

No signal input

Check to make sure the cable that plugs into the computer is in tight and the other end is in the monitor tight.

Remove the VGA cable that goes from the monitor to the computer, and take it out of the computer. Look at the piece that plugs into the computer to see if any of the pins or prongs are bent. If so that could be your problem. Straighten them out with a pair tweezers. It's normal for it to look like some pins are missing. That's the way they are made.

Try another monitor to see if the Video Card in the computer is bad. If it's bad both monitors will get the No Signal Message.

Broken USB jack, no power.

1) Unplug the computer from power. Open the computer case.

2) TOUCH the metal frame of the computer case. (Not shouting)
This will relieve your body of Static electricity.

3) Unplug the front panel USB cable from the motherboard. (If there are two cables coming from the front panel, unplug them both)

4) Close the computer case.
Press the Power On button in, and hold it in for a count of Five seconds. Let go of the button.
Do this procedure two more times. (Total of three times)

What you are doing is clearing any CMOS Error Codes, and setting BIOS Setup back to the factory default settings.

5) Plug the computer back into power. WAIT 1 minute. Turn the computer on.
If the computer still doesn't start, the motherboard is fried.
(I believe the computer will work okay)

There is no Service Manual available. If you follow the cable/s from the front panel to the motherboard, you'll see where it/they connect.

Black screen on my desktop, and connect pins are broken & bent

You'll get either no signal or missing color(s) if pins are bent or missing.

Carefully bend pins back with small needle-nose pliers. Pin 9 is missing by default - if any other pins are missing or broken, you'll need an expert to wire a new VGA plug.

How to install a linksys router to my desk top for my wireless laptop

1. plug in the router
2. connect the router to your DSL or Cable Modem using the supplied ethernet cable
3. connect the router to your computers ehternet port with a second piece of ethernet cable

you can use catagory 5 ethernet cable , or catagory 6

Most linksys routers have 4 to 5 ethernet ports to connect computers to.

One of the ports will be marked as the one to connect to your DSL or Cable Modem

Usually when looking at the back of the router the WAN port will be located to the far left.

Thank you for choosing FixYa!

When using ethernet connection with wireless router rate is 100 mbps but when I use linksys 2.4 usb wireless adapter ( to get rid of the ehthernet cable lying on the floor)rate is now 54 mbps? Is this the...

By the sounds of it the router is Wireless-G standard. This has a theoretical max speed of 54Mbps. If you wish to increase wireless speeds you would need to upgrade to Wireless-N standard. Do would need to change the wireless in the pc or laptop also. This should give a theoretical max speed of 100Mbps.
Ethernet cable will be cheaper!
