Unmountable_Boot_Volume means two things. it's either you have bad sectors on your hard drive or Windows is corrupted.
This can be fixed usually by CHKDSK /R command on the recovery console.
Boot your computer to BIOS and set the CD drive as primary boot option.
Make sure that the XP cd is in the drive. start your computer and when it prompts you to boot to cd. press a key on the keyboard.
Wait for it to load files. On the XP installation menu press R. If it asks you for the windows installation press 1.
If it asks for the admin password type it if you have one or just hit enter if you don't.
on c:\windows> type chkdsk /r then hit enter. wait for it to finish (may take several minutes)
type exit when done.

You can restore the computer back to factory default,to do so, follow
the below steps: Turn OFF the computer, now as soon as you hit the power
button, keep on holding "Alt" key & keep on tapping "F10" key, i.e
Alt+f10, it will open the recovery console, select full factory restore
and follow onscreen instruction. NOTE: This will erase all the data on
Hibernation mode usually turns the computer off but saves any work. Then you would start it back up by hitting the power button, it will boot up and you log in like normal and the computer should be as it was before it went into hibernation.
If you can't get it out of hibernation by pressing the power button, try holding the power button for 5-10 seconds. The laptop may actually still be on, and holding the power button will cut if off. Once the computer is back on you can change the battery options(hibernation/turn off settings) in Windows by going to the bottom right task bar and right clicking on the battery icon. Normally you will have an option like "power saving settings", "battery settings". In this setting window you can turn off hibernation due to inactivity.
Let me know if you have any questions. Regards, G33k
1. Remove battery from the laptop.
2. Unplug the power cord from the computer.
3. Let the computer sit for a few min.
4. Leave battery out.
5. Connect power adapter to computer
6. Push power button to turn computer on.
7. If computer powers on shut down again, and put battery back in.
8. Push power button to turn computer back on
(at this point battery and power adapter should be connected to the computer)
If computer powers on with power adapter with the battery out. You are having a battery issue. You would want to look into replacing the battery.
If computer does not power on with just the power adapter. You are most likely having a power issue. Depending on how old the laptop is. You will either want to contact the manufacturer. Or take the computer to a computer repair shop, or consider replacing the laptop.
When you reformat your computer, please note that you will lose all data, pictures and files etc. Please take time to back them up if you wish to keep them.
Turn off your computer by holding down power button for 10 seconds. Press and hold zero key and press your power button one time. (do not let go of zero key) If done correctly, you will hear a series of beeping. When you hear this, release the zero key. You will be asked with a warning screen if you wish to continue. Select yes. Select recovery for factory default and hit next. Then select recover out of state box. Then, select next. You will continue on, click next and this should start recovery!
You will not have to reformat your windows when this is done. It sets it back to original settings.
