Question about RCA HD52W58 52" TV

2 Answers

Powers on. green light flashes then turns back off.

I can't turn the tv on. The manual says a lamp needs replacing. The manual does not reflect correctly the rear housing of the tv. I can't find this lamp.

Reply to Abrsvcs posting 10/09/08. The model number is HD52W58 serial number E393C5026.

Abrsvcs, the tv does have the red, green, blue lamps aimed toward a big mirror behind the screen. I have torn the tv apart trying to find this fourth lamp to no avail. I am 100% percent sure that the tv is a DLP model. Your comment suggests that there may be a different problem/solution. However, as have searched for a replacement bulb at the RCA website, they respond with a picture of the lamp in its cartridge or lamp only with prices from different vendors. I don't know which direction go in at this point.

I have the same problem! when I try to turn the TV on the green light comes on then turns off, maybe a second later it'll turn back on by itself (green light) then turn back off.. Tv's probably only about 4 years old! Whats the problem?????

This is so freaky. I have the exact problem. It doesn't seem as if there's anyone out here to help us. I too had this television for at least four years. The power switch turns on and turns right off.

For troubleshooting your lamp, use the following lamp troubleshooting wizard here:

http://www.fixyourdlp.com/wizard/launch-window.html

If it turns out you need a lamp, you can follow the simple instructions available here for just about any make and model, including your RCA. The RCA website is useless and they never have parts in stock.

Please post the model number of your set. The category you have placed this question under is for a CRT based set that has no lamp. I should be able to help once I get the model number.

Thanks,
Dan

If you see the red/green/blue CRTs, there are no other lamps. You DO NOT have a DLP machine. It is CRT based. What light is flashing and how many times? Is there any sound at all?

    Thanks,

Since you say that there is sound but no picture, the first thing I would check would be the status of the lamp. I believe that the lamp has been shattered or the filament is blown. Please verify this and let me know

Suddenly turned off without warning Sony KDS-50A2000

Hello,

All you need is to open the back cover of the television and check on for dry soldering at the power stage of the printed circuit board, also check for bulged capacitors, if found replace with same rating of voltages , but if otherwise Ur power supply board is dead, u know basic electronics’ and soldering? Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors. These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get ur tv power stable, and work again.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

Hope this helout, Good luck....

Lost picture and sound

You likely have a bad lamp. The symptom you describe matches a weak or old lamp. When you first turn on the TV, the lamp is cold and doesn't draw much power. But old lamps usually have clouded reflectors, so the reflector doesn't reflect the light, it converts it into heat. The bulb overheats, draws more current than allowed, the TV "recycles", green light flashing and then the process starts over. Replace the lamp, use and original Sony lamp as the aftermarket lamps are known troublemakers. Please be sure to rate this solution. Thanks!
