  • The router username is always admin
  • The default password is password or (for older routers) 1234
Try the default username and password before resetting the router to the factory defaults.
When a router resets, it goes back to the state when it was new — all information that was entered by hand is lost! Examples are critical things you need to get online, such as ISP username, ISP password, IP addresses, security keys, and ports and services that were opened. It all needs to be re-entered.

If you have access to the router, go to http://192.168.1.1 and change the password to one you know. It is in Wireless and Security settings. Log in is admin and password is a blank.

Have you set the properties on the second computer to match the security expected by the router? Since one computer works I would compare the settings for the network connection and set the second computer to the same.

you can log into your router. You have to be hard wired into the router. Ethernet cable. once you are hard wired connected type 192.168.1.1 in your address bar and you will get a log in screen. Hopefully you saved your login but if there isn't, just push ok and it will take you into the router screen if you never set up a user name and password, from there you push the wireless tab and look up the password. If you can't remember your log in. you may just need to reset the router by the reset button and set everything up again.

How do you find the net key

Yes, you will have to log into your router's web based settings utility and bring up the tab labeled security or wireless security. It should be listed there. To log into the router, in an open internet explorer window type 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 into the address bar. This should open a window requesting username and password. If you haven't changed these settings both should be "admin". First page that opens usually is the basic settings of the router. You will have to click on the tab labeled security or wireless security. Passphrase should be there.

Good Luck

Wireless router pass word

sakoz,

You have to reset your router. There is a small reset button on the back, which you have to hold in for at least 15 to 20 seconds if I remember correctly.

You should be able to then log back into it with the factory preset it came with.

Please let me know if this helps. Good luck!
