Question about Gaggenau ED 220/221 Electric Single Oven

Open Question

Steam ovenFault codes

My steam oven is at it again. I have a gaggeneau ED221600/01 steam oven which is now out of warranty. I was getting an error code of F70. Since it's out of warranty I opened up the side panel and I think I found the issue. There a reservoir that's leaking, it looks like the plastic melted where it attaches to a clear hose coming from the top. I dried up the spilled water took the reservoir out and removed the melted piece with a dremel tool, epoxied up a copper pipe in it's place and reassembled ( the only reason I found the fault is because the part was replaced under warrranty about 2 or 3 years ago) the oven starts now but after a few minutes I am getting eror codes F20 F21 F22 F23 and sometimes F72 comes back. What do the error codes mean. I can actually start the oven up after a few minutes but it shuts down Please help

    Hi

I have an out of warranty ED 230 Gaggenau steam oven.
It too had error code F70 and I called a profession to repair it.
They informed me my reservoir was leaking as well and that there is no factory replacement part.

Two questions: did you fix of the reservoir end up working?
    and
Seems like this is a systemic issue and I would not recommend anyone spending the amount of money these things cost on a product where the manufacturer doesn't make replacement parts.

SOURCE: we have an Gaggenau EB 290 oven and the error code

F23-relay electronics not selecting. There is either a fault with the pcb or a loss of continuity within the ribbon cable. Unfortunately, I think you are going to need an expert to look at this to confirm.
Sorry I cannot be of more assistance but some faults do require a physical check from a professional and cannot always be sorted out from a distance.
All the best.

Hi Paulahogan_1, We have had the same F08 error code with our Westinghouse oven. The repairman said its because of two holes drilled in the upper casing of the oven which allow steam to get through to the motherboard - messing with the thermostat I think. The quick fix was pulling out the oven unit by undoing two screws, then undoing two more screws to lift up the motherboard, and filling the two holes with silicone. However, the steam coming through over the last year or so has caused some corrosion of the motherboard, so they're going to replace that given that the oven's still under warranty. Sounds like your oven might have the same problem, but may have suffered more corrosion over time, thereby messing up the controls? Good luck! Hopefully you've already had it fixed by now :)

o O means that the unit needs to be descaled. See your owners manual for the procedure. If the unit displays O - - o, the safety lock has been activated. Again, see your owner's manual.

Hot steam from oven

your oven does not generate steam, only pulls moisture out of what you you place inside of it, poultry being the highest moisture content, i would look into what you are cooking

Gaggenau Ed 220/221 Error Code F 70

I had the same fault F70. Poured several liters boiling water no result. I decided to take the oven out the kitchen and put on the table. Be carefull, its edges are sharp. You need to disconnect water supply, first close the tap, then remove the water pipe from the oven by hand. Remove also the drain pipe from the sewage connection. You cannot detach it from the oven. Unplug power supply. Then start unscrewing the top panel. Once removed you can unscrew also the side panel left side (by looking at the oven from the front door side) and finally remove the back panel. You will need a special screw driver as the screws are star type.
I found out that there was some little water on the bottom panel of the oven. There is a safety sensor which is in contact with the bottom panel on the left side of the oven near the electronic board.
If this get wet, the faul code F70 appears.
Also some water was in the hole of the level sensor in the pump chamber next to the other sensor (white plastic box)
So dry all the water with the help of kitchen paper and finally with hair dryer.
Put back all teh parts and voila', it works again.
