Can the buttons on the remote be canceled for the sliding doors?
I carry my remote on my key ring and sometimes when I enter my garage I find one of the sliding rear doors open. I think it is caused by my keys pressing against the button on the remote either when I move around to do a task or maybe when I put my hand in my pocket to get other keys etc. I thought there may be a way to keep the remote from unlocking those doors but I could not find anything in my vehicle owners manual.

Hi,
I contacted the Cheverolet dealer where I purchased the vehicle: and there is no solution unless you switch the doors to a manual operation.

If your remote is not functioning properly, carry out these steps to reconfigure it:
1. Enter your vehicle and close all doors
2. Put the key in the ignition and switch it ON then put turn it OFF
3. While switching between on and off, press and hold the unlock menu on the driver's side
4. Press and hold the lock and unlock buttons on the remote until your Malibu beeps twice
5. Remove the key from the ignition. It should be reconfigured now.
Grab the remote for the garage door you want to program, then pick a button you want to match the door, next is turn key on push button on the truck and then button on the remote, hold both buttons until flashing red light turns green. you can do this with each button and each remote.
On your remote look closly there is a little sliding switch that releases door key thats hidden inside remote.Slide switch and pull key ring side and use that key to open doors or trunk.
Unlock vehicle. Enter vehicle. Close driver's door. Switch ignition ON and OFF. Remove ignition key. Press and hold unlock button. Press lock button briefly 3 times within 10 seconds keeping unlock button depressed. Release unlock button. Some models: LED flashes slowly for 10 seconds. Some models: Central locking system locks and unlocks rapidly to indicate correct programming. Repeat above procedure if central locking system does not work and LED does not flash or LED flashes continuously.
Press the button on the garage door opener (red, green, or yellow) until the led starts to blink and within 10 seconds or so, ( I think it's actually 30 seconds) press the GDO control button on the remote and the opener should capture the signal and respond to it from then on. Any remotes that were set to control the opener will be wiped and the new one will be in control. There are instructions that came with the opener that show how to do this from the remote or the key-less entry. If you are talking about an in-car device then your vehicle manual may be needed too, but the main thing is to set the GDO to be looking for the code from the car remote and when you press the in-car remote the garage door should respond. If you have programmed a remote or key-less entry then it is about the same procedure.
if its early 05 round heart shaped remote it needs programming into system at dealer with Tech2
later 05 to 07 had square (rectangle) shaped remote 1.2 ID Code Additional Registration Note: This procedure will add additional remotes to the Keyless Entry Control Units memory. A total of 4 remote transmitters may be programmed into the Keyless Entry Control Units memory. When a total of registered and newly registered remotes exceed 4, the oldest one shall be erased. Step Action 1Note: Make sure that all the doors are closed and unlocked. Insert the ignition key into the ignition switch. Open the driver's side door. 2 Turn the Ignition key to the “ON” position and then to the “LOCK” position three times (The key should remain in the “LOCK” position) Note: This step must be carried out within five seconds. 3 “CLOSE” and “OPEN” the driver’s doors once (Leaving the driver’s door in the “OPEN” position) Note: This step must be carried out within five seconds after step 2 is completed. 4 Wait for 8 seconds (This wait time is critical) 5 Turn the Ignition key “ON” and then to the “LOCK” position once and turn key to the “ON” position (The key should remain in the “ON” position) OR on/lock once Note: This step must be carried out eight seconds after step 3 is completed. 6 “CLOSE” the driver’s door The HAZARD lights should flash 3 times (This acknowledges the Keyless Entry Control Unit has entered programming mode) 7 Operate the lock or unlock button of the transmitters to be programmed; a flash of the HAZARD lights indicates the remote has been successfully programmed into the control unit 8 The HAZARD lights will flash approx 4 seconds after pressing the remote button to indicate the Keyless Entry Control Unit has exited programming mode.
Homelink Garage Door Opener Programming Procedure:
The procedure described below was successfully applied to a 2005 Jaguar S-Type.
To begin with, several attempts were made using the programming instructions contained in my Jaguar’s owner’s manual.Though the procedure described in the owner’s manual was straight-forward and understandable, I was unsuccessful in getting the vehicle’s remote to make my garage door opener function. The particular garage door openers I have are both made by Genie. Both openers utilize the “Rolling Code” feature.
To begin with, be sure to clear previous codes on your Jaguar’s garage door opener by first turning (rotating) the ignition key to the “I” position (first notch).Next, simultaneously hold button 1 (left most button) and button 3 (right most button) down until the middle button’s red light changes from continuous on to a rapid flash. This process takes approximately 20-25 seconds. What follows is a two part process. In the first part, get your Genie portable remote and hold it near (approximately 3 inches away from) your Jaguar’s garage door opener console buttons.Choose which button on your Jaguar’s remote you wish to dedicate to your Genie door opener and simultaneously press and hold your Genie opener button and your Jaguar’s opener button. The red light on your Jaguar’s center button (button #2) will light up and within 1-2 seconds will begin to flash rapidly. You have just completed part 1 of the two part process.
Part two:Now it is time to utilize the “Learn” function on your Genie garage door opener.Press the “Learn” button on your Genie garage door opener. The red LED adjacent to the “Learn” button will begin to flash. You now have 30 seconds in which to program your Jaguar’s opener button.Using the same button you just used in the “part 1” procedure, press and hold the same button for several seconds. As before, your Jaguar’s red light in the middle button will light up and within 1-2 seconds, it will flash rapidly.Release the button you are programming. Now, here is the key piece of information!Once again, press and hold that same button.Once again, the center button’s red light will flash rapidly.Release your newly programmed button. This procedure proved successful in my application. Here is what has just happened. The first time you pressed your Jaguar’s remote button tells the Genie opener that it exists and that it is a viable candidate for making your life easier (opening the damn door). The second time you press your Jaguar’s remote button confirms to the Genie’s rolling code that your Jaguar’s signal is legitimate and is to be trusted from then on.
