Based on recommendations posted here I purchased a URC 6131 universal remote
control. The Info button will not call up the program information banner
and the Exit button will not exit any on-screen menu. I have tried using
the out-of-the-box code (preprogrammed for a Phillips DirecTV/TiVo) and also
the listed codes. The problem exists with both a Hughes HDVR2 and a
Phillips DSR 7000. Is this a known problem, and if so, is there a fix?

I just used the remapping feature in the URC 6131 to remap (IIRC) the
"right directional button" to info. I did something similar for exit
after figuring out which button did the same thing.
Play around with the remote a bit to figure out which buttons have the
same function and remap them to info & exit.

In article <>,

There are two interacting issues:
1) The URC-6131 does not, by default, map quite all of the buttons.
2) The Series 2 DirecTiVos try to determine which of two or three models
of remote you're using based on the presence or absence of certain
keypresses. It'll then change its behavior slightly, so the remote may
work differently depending upon how you're using it and if you're
using it instead of or in conjunction with the "peanut."
I've not studied the details of #2, but I know you can reprogram the
remote to handle the remote codes that OfA left off of the buttons. Check
here for information on using these "advanced codes:"
#
For a discussion of how this applies to the URC-6131 and TiVos
specifically, check this TiVo Community Forum thread:
#
In particular, the second page includes information on advanced codes for
TiVos. There may be more information elsewhere, but I don't recall
precisely. (The thread covers a lot of territory, including non-OfA
remotes.)

I have a 6131 that I use with a Hughes HDVR2, and the "info" button works
fine, so I can't help you there. As far as I know, the "exit" button is a
dead key on the remote, and you just have to arrow your way out of menus.
To be honest, I never really noticed until you mentioned it.
I use a different OFA remote for the main setup: one with programmable keys.
. .but even there I never programmed an "exit" key.
Anyhow, sorry if it's not working out for you.

Based on recommendations posted here, I bought a URC 6131 remote. The Info
