U need an external phantom power supply, they run about $19.99, or you can get a different interface which has phantom power onboard, the cheapest one would be the m-audio mobile pre usb but that would not work on vista 64 bit... best bet is to get external power....

I want to use my rode NT1-A on my laptop. how do i do so?

you need a recording interface (with phantom power if the mic requires that - most condensor mics need phantom power) to go from the mic to the interface, then to the computer. There are many USB recording interfaces - some easy plug and play interfaces include:

http://www.amazon.com/ART-Project-Series-Microphone-Preamp/dp/B000K6B59Y/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1334413603&sr=8-8

Then on your computer you need an application such as audacity (if windows), cubase, sonar, logic, pro tools, or any other audio recording app that will allow you to record and edit tracks. From there, you can install many different plugins or apps that can process the audio and add effects to the tracks like reverb, delay, distortion, etc.

It sounds like you have done everything right. It would be a good idea to check both the mic and Protools system separately. If you can, verify that the mic works using another device such as a mixer. Also try getting a level into Protools using another mic, preferably a dynamic which doesn't require phantom power. If you are trying to use an original MBOX under Windows 7 or the latest version of OSX then it may not work at all.

Hi! How are you? I have a problem with my microphone RODE NT1A. I bought it, and I need to plug in it to my computer. What things I need? What should I do? Have a nice day! Thanks.

The Rode NT1A is a phantom powered mic, This means that a power supply is needed to provide 24 or 48 volt for the mic to work. None of the computer mic in provides this kind of power supply. The best solution is to use a suitable external audio card or another microphone.

In case of a problem or clarification or further details needed, don't hesitate to post me a reply before rejecting my answer, clarifying also what you are about to do and what kind of available connections does the computer has (firewire, usb etc)

the process of elimation will help you to solve your issue. first plug the rode nt1 (great mic by the way), into a good pa head or something you know works, of course you will need to have a pa that gives you phantom power. if the mic works then move on to the preamp. try it in the pa too, if it works move on to the m-audiophle and plug a line level signal into it (a cd player or mp3 player for instance) it this works then you have determined that everything works and you don't actully have a problem other than switching, Also try plugging your mic into the M-audiophle directly and see if thaat works ( don't know if that provides the 48 volts, if it doesn't than you will have to get a phantom supply to plug into first. good luck

Rode NT1A: i got an adapter so i can input it in the mic input the pc says an audio device has been put in but i cant find it anywhere! please help me i also have an Acer Z5710

The reason it is not being picked up by your PC is because the NT1A is a condenser microphone and it requires an audio interface that can supply phantom power (48V) to get it powered up. Without phantom power, the NT1A won't work. You many need to buy an external audio interface that provides phantom power to use the mic. Hope that helps.

Then Under RECORDING section, pull down the drop menu and select M-Audio. And Click APPLY & OK to close. I would reboot and it should be working after that.. ok? Connecting an M Audio Fast Track USB to a Behringer XENYX 1002

I suppose that you connect the behringer mixer master out (just one of the two channels in case of two) to the guitar input of the Fast Track. Have you tried to hear your mic from the phones output at the front panel of the Fast Track? Try changing the guitar gain and the output level at the top of the Fast track.

I'm waiting for your results or clarification, please post.
