U need an external phantom power supply, they run about $19.99, or you can get a different interface which has phantom power onboard, the cheapest one would be the m-audio mobile pre usb but that would not work on vista 64 bit... best bet is to get external power....

I can record voice, but not guitar. I see the signal for the guitar, but just not recording. I following the same directions I would for voice but does not work. Any suggestions? Thanks

There is a button on the front that switches between XLR and 1/4" inputs. Make sure that your mic doesn't require phantom power, as the FastTrack doesn't supply the right voltage.

Hello, try going into Sound & Audio Settings through control panel. From there, click on the Audio Button. Toward the bottom on the left, UNCHECK the box that says 'USE ONLY DEFAULT DEVICES'. Then Under RECORDING section, pull down the drop menu and select M-Audio. And Click APPLY & OK to close. I would reboot and it should be working after that.. ok? adjust your audio buffers, if your recording software allows it. however, there will always be some latency in usb recording devices. i recommend firewire or pci internal cards for recording.

Connecting an M Audio Fast Track USB to a Behringer XENYX 1002

I suppose that you connect the behringer mixer master out (just one of the two channels in case of two) to the guitar input of the Fast Track. Have you tried to hear your mic from the phones output at the front panel of the Fast Track? Try changing the guitar gain and the output level at the top of the Fast track.

I'm waiting for your results or clarification, please post.

Thanks and regards

Low record level for guitar

first of all you want to have your guitar amp at a decent volume but too loud, just enough to be able to get a good signal. when you have done this turn up the gain on your mic channel so that your VU meter (level meter) on the recording software shows a reading of about half way up the meter. If you can not achieve this with the soundcard alone increase the gain on your channel in the software.

This sound guarantee a good signal but as with most recordings you will still have to boost the signal without it peaking. to do this use a compressor or a limiter and turn the gain up. if you use these dynamic effects correctly you will achieve the guitar level you want.
