WHAT ARE THE SPECIFICATIONS

Each computer contains two important components---a Central Processing Unit (CPU) and memory chips. The CPU and memory chips work together to process computations within your computer. You can't have one without the other. Your computer has a base amount of memory installed, 512 Megabytes or higher, that can be expanded to beyond 1 Gigabyte, in most cases. Before you upgrade your computer's memory, you need to know what type of RAM your computer takes: SDRAM (Synchronous DRAM), Rambus DRAM (RDRAM), DDR (Double Data Rate SDRAM) or other type.

Open your computer's Internet browser by clicking on the program's icon on your computer's "Desktop," this applies to both Windows and Mac platforms. Enter www.crucial.com/systemscanner/index.aspx in the URL box at the top of your browser's screen. The "Crucial System Scanner" tool application website will open. Click on the check box next to the wording "By selecting this box and clicking the download the scanner button, I agree to the Terms and Conditions." Click on "Download the Scanner." The "Opening CrucialScan.exe" dialog box will open. Click "Open" or "Run" to download and set up the program directly. Click "Save" or "Save As" to save the program's setup file on your computer if you don't see the "Open" or "Run" option or you are using dial-up or a slow Internet connection. The program will download and setup on your computer if you selected the "Open" or "Run" option. Navigate to the directory where you want to save the file, if you selected the "Save" or "Save As" option. Select the "Desktop" if you have a hard time locating downloaded files on your system. Double click on the "CrucialScan.exe" icon to open the program, if you selected the "Save" or "Save As" option. Click "Run" when prompted with the "Open File -- Security Warning." The "CrucialScan.exe" program will run and appear in your computer's Internet browser. Scroll to the second section on the "Memory upgrades from Crucial.com -- Determine My Memory Needs" website. The section is labeled "Your XXXXX Specifications." The "XXXXX"s represent your computer's brand and model. Locate the wording "Each memory slot can hold..." Write down the this sentence on a piece of paper---this is the type of RAM your computer accepts. Click "File," "Print," "OK" to print this website, if you have a printer attached to your computer. If you're not sure if a module is right for your system, use the Crucial Memory Advisor tool for a list of guaranteed compatible modules. first you will need to select the manufacturer from a drop down list then select your product line from a drop down list then select the model then click find it will take you directly to compatible ram also you will have an option to scan your system you should always ask for a guarantee on the compatibility before making any purchase and try to buy for working pairs if possible Hope this helps.

Looking for word document I did not save

The power just went out while you working on an important document you forgot to save.

Do not panic because Microsoft Word comes equipped with a feature that automatically will recover files you did not save.

Typically, this feature works by default.

The program allows you to change how often Word saves your documents and you can adjust the location where Microsoft Word saves these "Auto Recover" files.

Open up Microsoft Word.

Do not click on a file to open the program.

Instead, open the program by double-clicking on the program's icon.

Allow the program to load for a couple of minutes before clicking on anything.

Look on the left side of the screen.

If Microsoft Word recovered the file, a "Document Recovery" task pane will load.

Find the file's date.

Double-click on the file in the "Document Recovery" pane.

This will open the file in Microsoft Word.

Click on the "File Menu" and select "Save As."

Save the document as a ".doc" file type, and type a name for your document in the "File Name" box.

or

Open Microsoft Word to determine if the program auto-recovered your document.

If your software is set to auto-save your document every couple of minutes, when the program is restarted, any document that was not saved prior to closing, may appear in the auto-recover window on the left side of the screen.

Click on your document, and the last-saved file will open.

However, anything you typed after the last auto-save is gone, but at least you haven't lost the entire document.

Search the auto-recover files manually if the auto-recover pane did not appear when you opened MS Word.

Click the Start menu at the bottom of your computer screen, and click "Search." Some operating systems have the search option as a part of the Start menu.

Search for "*.asd" to search for any recovered files.

If you find the file, open Word, and click "Open" in the menu.

Search through all files, and locate the file that ended in .asd. Click "Open" to view your file.

If you are using Word 2002 or 2003, you need to restart your computer after clicking "Open." Re-open Word after your computer re-boots to view the recovered file.

Check your backup files.

If you have the "Always create backup copy" option selected in Word, you may be able to find a backup copy of your document.

Find the location where you last saved the document.

Check for the extension .wbk.

If there aren't any, search your whole computer for files with that extension.

Open your file by clicking "Open" in Word, and search all files for the .wbk extension.

Once you locate the file, click "Open."

Look in the temporary files on your computer.

Complete a search for files that end in the extension .tmp by typing "*.tmp" into the search box.

Narrow the search down to specific dates of when you were working on the document.

If the file does not show up, try searching for the "~*.*" convention.

Some temporary files are in this format instead.

If your document is now in your temporary files, you will need to recover the damaged document.

Search for it within Word.

Click "Open and Repair" when you find it.

Hope this helps

All my scanner will let me do is pictures. I had to re-install and the part of the program that let me choose pictures or papers is missing. What do I do?

Scanner hardly needs any software. Most of them are default. I would suggest to remove the Software altogather and simply press scan button on the scanner. it may ask you where to save the Image file.

There you go ! save it on your desktop.

Happy scaning !!!

Hello i want software to use my scanner bearpaw1200cu

Download Instructions:

1.
Make sure you have disabled your antivirus and firewall, if you have them, BEFORE you begin the download as it may corrupt the files you are going to download.
2.
Click on each "Download" button listed for your operating system. Each time you click on "Download" a window will pop up asking "Would you like to OPEN the file or SAVE it to your computer." Click on Save.
3.
Then another window will pop up asking where on your computer you want to save the file to.
4.
Save them to your "Desktop" so you can find them when you're done downloading all of them.
5.
Get off of the internet.
6.
Click on the first file you downloaded. It should have an ".exe." extension or a "blue" folder icon. That will begin the installation of the driver files.
7.
Follow the instructions for the install as they come up, reboot when asked to.
Make sure the device is not plugged into the computer during the drivers install. After all the files are installed plug the device into the computer. DO NOT PLUG DEVICES INTO "FRONT" USB PORTS ON THE COMPUTER AS THESE ARE "HUB" PORTS AND the system may not "see" the device.

Ethernet driver for dell dimension 4600

Hi stefyboy - Below is a link where you can download your driver. After you get to the page just make sure it says Windows XP as the operating system. Then scroll down and click on the + next to where it says network. You want the intel 10/100 driver. I've included a few a ways to install it. If your kinda new to this the easiest is the download to desktop method and just remember where it unzipped it to, you can always move it to a driver directory where you can keep all your drivers for the future.

http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&ServiceTag=&SystemID=DIM_P4_4600&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=

If this solves your problem PLEASE rate this as fixed. If not, DO NOT RATE YET. Just add a comment letting me know what happened and I'll be glad to assist you further. Thanks.
