Side by side kenmore refrigerator not cooling.Tampa FL.
I just moved to a new home and the refrigerator is not cooling. I unpluged and reconnect and the unit start cooling for about 24 Hrs to stop cooling again. There is a layer of ice on the back wall of the freezer all the time. Any advice? I am not sure about the model number.

HI thanks for your question. the problem you are having is that its not going into the defrost cycle. its not an expensive repair, probably $ 150. 00. unless you have the proper meter to check i would call a tech . but its more likely the defrost timer. or the defrost thermostat. thanks the appliance doc. please rate my answer. thanks.

If this was a slow moving loss you should clean the cooling
coil under the refrigerator. Remove the bottom snap in grille and vacuum out
the dirt and dust from the coil and anything else you can reach. You may need
to make an extension with paper towel tubes flattened a little and tape to get
into the cramped spaces. I use a piece of clear plastic pipe stuck in the
suction with a long angled split cut on the cleaning end. Maybe also move the fridge out, vacuum and clean
the flooring area also. (And every 6 months)
Unplug the Ref for 15-20 min., plug it back in and listen for the compressor to start. You will need to be behind the Ref so you can tell if the compressor or the fan is running. It will help to take the cover off so you can see the compressor.
Compressor not running but you hear a clicking noise. The relay needs to be replaced.
Compressor runs but not cooling. Low on coolant
The most common thing that happens while moving a frig is when moving it they put the dolly underneath the condenser fan housing and bend it into the fan causing the compressor to overheat before it has a chance to cool down everything. If this isn't the case then I will send you a list of things to check out. Let me know.
go to the back of the fridge see if it has a white relay on the compressor that's the piece that plugs onto the compressor if it does un plug the unit take it off and shake it if it rattles and little black stuff falls out of it replace it with a three in one relay from an appliance repair parts store just follow the instructions on the part its easy don't worry about water in the ice maker it will fill when it starts cooling if it doesn't have the relay try turning it off for 24 hours to give the oil time to run back down to the compressor and advise me further
