DVD player completely locked up

We just keep getting "hello" on our DVD player's screen. The DVD tray will not open and we have a DVD stuck inside of it. We have unplugged the unit but it returns to its frozen state when we plug it in. We have pushed every button on the unit but nothing makes a difference.

I have pressed and held the on/stndby button and it clears, but as soon as you try to open the dvd tray it says "hello" again

I called RCA yesterday, and they said that they are recalling my model # because it is defective. I am sending it back in. It's under the warranty so I will get a new one. Hopefully, it won't be the same model--I couldn't understand the person on the phone very well. I'll have to call again one day about it to ask someone else that I can understand. So if you have the Hello problem, you need to write down the model & serial numbers and call RCA. They won't talk to you without those numbers.
Their phone number is 1-877-805-0519. They close at 7 p.m.

The cause of this problem appears to orginate in the units Power Supply board. The The 470uF 16 V capacitor in loaction C226 opens and causes the 5.1 Volt supply to drop down to about 3.6 Volts. I fixed one of these units back in early August of this year by replacing the capacitor with a new ESR type capacitor of the same value. The unit has been plugged in and operating for the past three months since the repair. So if you are handy with a soldering iron, the repair can be accomplished in less than an hour.

DVD tray is stuck

Hello,

If your DVD tray is stuck, that simply means there is a problem with the mechanism that is controlling the tray from the inside part of the player.

For you to fix this, get the appropriate screwdriver,

open the back cover of the player.

you will see a mechanism by the side of the opening and closing of the tray.

Carefully examine the mechanism, and you will detect what is faulty on the mechanism.

You can replace the faulty mechanism or better still replace the whole mechanism.

Ensure the disc tray is properly seated.

yest it with a DVD disc before you couple it back together.

Take care

Dvd stuck in machine will not play or open to remove movie

Hello,

there might be something hooking the disc tray that is prevent it from opening.

The solution to this problem now is to, get a screw driver, unscrew the screws on the player, open the player cover so that you can gain access to the disc stuck inside, remove the disc and check for what's preventing the player from ejecting.

Take care.

DVD loading mechanism doesn't load completely that's why opens after attempt of loading.
You need to open top cover of unit and inspect loading belt might be lose, tray timing can be out of phase, some wire got stuck with tray while loading etc.

Not closing

Hello, with mechanical problems with sophisticated systems of gears etc, the only way thate one can fix it is if you send me a digital picture yourself. To access the inside of the DVD player, you will have to get a handyman to open the DVD player up with a screwdriver, by undoing some screws which hold the cover to the player itself. Then, with the player's circuit boards (The Green/brown Boards with weird components on it) showing, take around 5-6 photo's of the loading tray and the playing tray.(Where the disc is when watching a movie)In the time being, open the layer's cover as instructed before, and look at the inside of the tray for any broken plastic, debris or anything stopping the tray from opening. Good luck!

Locked dvd tray.

To unlock, manually press and HOLD the open/close button & the stop button simultaneously, and HOLD them both down until the lock picture disappears.   The DVD will eject when you press the open/close button.

To lock the DVD inside the machine, repeat the same step, and it will lock it inside.
