Question about Canon PowerShot A75 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Pictures are extremely blurry, like smeared. Also now lens won't close when off

It all happened at once taking pics for ebay. Didn't damage it, thought maybe it was dead batteries, but new batteries didn't help. Sometimes if I turn it off and turn it back on it will take one shot and then after that it's all wildly blurry. Also, strangely, now the lens does not retract when I shut it off. When I just tried it again I got a message "E18" on the screen. HELP!!!

I contacted Canon and they said they would fix the CCD thingamajig for free. As for the lens, I wouldn't know how to make one good camera out of two if you had a knife to my throat so I will let canon do the fixin but thanks for the advice. A better mechanic could make good use of it.

Hi

If the pictures are smeared, then your CCD is bad and needs to be replaced. The "E:18" error message is a generic message meaning your lens is defective... so it sounds like you need the lens completely replaced.

I would look for a defective camera online and make a good camera out of the two. If you would like to have your A75 repaired, I don't have current pricing for a lens assembly but I can get it for you.

Good luck from Darntoothysam com, and let us know if we can help.

I dropped my camera on the lens while it was open, now it will not close. I noticed it was slightly blurry when i tryed to take a new pic. I turned it off and then back on and the lens didn't move

Here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try that may (or may not) correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty (or repair cost approaches that of the camera), they're worth that try. Some of the later steps do involve some risk to the camera, so carefully weigh your options before deciding to conduct them:

Help with the Olympus FE-280 8.0 megapixel, please!!

this is a tipically problem, of a pressure on the lens, if the lens go out. or if the camera are dopped. to resolve this problem alone you must have specifically knowledge.
the cost of the reparation is high. so if you want prove withe the exact model number, search on the ebay international seller the komlet lens with ccd for you camera. any american seller if you buy the lens, can give a guide to change the lens block. but this is not a symply job. if you make one error you loose the camera and the lens. the price of your lens block can go from 25 to 35 euro, if you can change it alone you have resolved with this money. ok.?? sorry for my bad english if you want help can you write me and i will help you

Blurry images

If it is brand new, return the camera, and show what is happening.
The blurry pictures has to do with a few things. A damaged lens system, a dirty lens, other damage to the lens while it was extended, water or moisture damage can also cause this, including internal circuit damage or broken parts.
Make sure it has not had an impact or other damage, because if it had, then more than likely you will have no warranty, and it will not be taken back by the store.

Close up pictures

For the jewelry shots you will need an accessory telephoto lens with a macro feature OR a close-up filter set. The lens will give you more features, but the filters will be the less expensive option. The lens should also help with your video shots. I have a Z650, and I use both options - depending on the situation. eBay is a good cost-effective source for these accessories.

Pics are blurry

Have you changed the settings in the camera? When are you getting this problem? Is it when you try to shoot in low light?Does it appear like the pictures are shaken or is it out of focus? If they are shaken, use a higher ISO to shoot. If it appears out of focus, first check the lens for some smears. Clean the lens with a clean dry cotton cloth.

Check if there is fungus on the lens (this appears like spider's web or crack marks). If there is fungus, or you are still getting pctures blurred, take it to an authorized service center.

Blurry camera screen

If the pictures are blurry, you probably damaged the lens with the drop. You will have to send the camera to the factory service to replace the lens unit, if it is not serviceable.

If you drop a camera this is not normally covered by the warranty. You may find it cheaper to replace the camera than have any major service done to it.

Camera taking blurry pictures

I'm having the same problem with my Panasonic Lumix camera. A year of perfectly clear photos, and now, even after a cleaning, is taking consistently blurry photos. I'm a photographer. I know about half-depressed shutters, focusing on objects, etc. What is wrong with my camera?!?
